While I've visited this local's gem many times, it was the absolutely scrumptious BBQ last night that propelled me to this review.
Alex, one of the owners, was baking at 5 a.m., serving the morning crowd, smoking the BBQ all afternoon, then closing shop last night. Talk about a hustler!
But beyond incredibly friendly service, delicious drinks, oh my, that BBQ is worth raving about! They season + smoke their own meat (tri-tip, brisket & pulled pork).
I had the pulled pork, my husband had the brisket, and we enjoyed the homemade mac n' cheese, coleslaw & baked beans. Delighted we saw the "BBQ tonight" sign + finally could make it!
I've seen some customers get pretty nasty to staff about silly, UNimportant things like someone else taking their (same) drink order, and berate staff (seriously, people?!), who are always kind + polite.
But, man, these owners - Alex + Teresa - and Tree House Cafe are super assets to the community, and I'm (we're!) so happy to have them here in KB!
A+, two thumbs up, five stars for drinks, baked goods + mos' definitely BBQ on Friday & Saturday nights at...
Read moreAtmosphere was cool, chill vibe and interior design, front, back and inside seating. I decided to go with the brisket burrito, with tip was about $17.50, which is very pricey for a breakfast burrito, but it sounded good. Upon opening my burrito I noticed a very excessive amount of tots and a small amount of eggs and meat, the spread of the ingredients was not good, I got about 2 pieces of meat in one half and more in the other half, but even then it was small, dry and unseasoned brisket. Overall the burrito was okay, pretty big, but not worth price at all, I’d pay maybe 10$ for this burrito. Not to mention service was pretty bad. No greeting from the cashier lady, she had an attitude the whole time and just was being rude. Once my burrito was called out the person bringing it out also had a wierd attitude. I’d...
Read moreVery overpriced, as is everything in Lake Tahoe, so I take that into consideration. $11 on a breakfast sandwich and $4.75 on a regular hot coffee. The sandwich was very disappointing and the coffee was okay, but not hot at all. I had to heat it up myself at home. I love coffee so I asked if there were any choices, such as a medium blend or a bolder blend. The woman taking my order simply did not understand what I was asking and the way that she responded was extremely off putting.
For the price, quality of food and the service, I would just make the drive to the Old Post Office for breakfast. I have lived here for two years and I think quality and customer service varies everywhere, but this was very disappointing and I don’t see...
