Let me start by saying my experience at Delicomb was excellent until today. I'm extremely sad to be writing this as I very very rarely leave negative reviews about restaurants and have been supporting Delicomb ever since they opened at this location. Great food, great coffee, and great service.
All of that changed when the manager (possibly owner) came up to me and asked me to take my son outside who was yelling (as 2-year-olds do from time to time). I was a little frustrated when he asked me to take him out but I could somewhat understand it and I did as he asked. After doing the best I could to talk to my 2-year-old son, and explain that we couldn't yell in a restaurant, I brought him back in.
He was fine for about 10 minutes or so until he screamed once or twice - not even as loud as the previous times. We were getting him under control when the manger came back to us and said we have to leave "NOW". He was so angry he was shaking. I was extremely shocked. My wife told him we're almost done with our food and he proceeded to tell her/us that we need to "pack it up and go NOW". I asked him, "What if he was autistic." His response was simply, "Don't speak to me that way" (while noticeably shaking with anger). He seemed to not even comprehend the question I asked him as the response he gave wasn't an answer at all.
My wife and I, as well as the other 5 or 6 friends at the table and our 5-year-old daughter, were shocked. The manager left my wife in tears of anger and embarrassment. We even spoke with the people at the table next to us and they were stunned and were really sad because they had been supporting Delicomb for a long time and could not believe what they had just witnessed.
Again, I am very sad to be writing this because all of my experiences at Delicomb up to today have been great. I love supporting local businesses and do not write negative reviews flippantly. But I now see that Delicomb cares so much about retaining their chill, hipster vibe that they are willing to alienate families.
Delicomb has lost...
Read moreVery rude service today, but maybe just to colored people. Manager (Brown hair and mustache) who was making coffee, was nice to everyone else who ordered in front of me, smiling at everyone. I was waiting patiently for my drink near the counter but far enough to not block anything or in anyone’s way.
The manager who was making a drinks, placed a drink in the counter he just finished making. He just placed it on the counter and did not name the drink, nor the name of who ordered it. Not seeing anyone else go up the counter and claim the drink, I go up and ask if it was for me. Before I could even finish saying my first word, the manager who made the coffee interrupts and says “NO THAT IS NOT YOURS!” In a tone that made it sounds like I was about to steal someone else’s drink. He didn’t even name the order or name, how does someone know. Even worse, when he finished my coffee he just places it on the counter, and again not naming the order nor name of the person. Even though I was right there waiting, and he knew it was mine he didn’t say anything. If it wasn’t for the nice young lady behind the counter, noticing my drink just waiting to be claimed, I’m sure the manager would have just let it sit there.
Very rude management, i would of somewhat understood if it was busy but it wasn’t. Decent food, okay price, but very rude management (brown hair man, with brown mustache) will not return, and won’t be recommending to any friends.
Just go to Bold Bean, Southern Grounds, or...
Read moreEditing my review to 1 star bc of the way the owner has responded to every other bad review. Instead of addressing the issue and apologising they give the person a hard time and ask them to please remove the review. This aligns with the service I experienced. I feel so sorry for everyone who works here 🥺
The coffee is ok, but nothing special. Atmosphere is very dark, and extremely unfriendly to pet owners. I walked blocks to get a coffee there bc it said best coffee in Jacksonville (kookaburra is far better) BUT when I saw the no pets sign I clearly said, I see your sign, I hope you will still serve me. They let me order my coffee but wait outside and they would bring it to me, which is fine. I waited outside for 10+ minutes when the waitress came out and said I saw your drink at the bar, go ahead inside and get it. I went in to grab the drink and put a lid on it, and from across the bar a gentleman scolded me and told me no pets allowed. I said yes, I realise that and I’m leaving , the waitress told me to come get my drink inside. He then proceeded to tell me NO PETS ALLOWED, and it’s actually against the law. I kindly let the waitress know that it’s against the law, and it would probably be better for everyone if she brought it outside next time. It was a lot of stress for a $6 mediocre coffee, and I wouldn’t go back, even if I didn’t have my dog with me. Any pet lovers should not support this establishment, as they clearly have a hatred towards pets...
