THE PERFECT SEAFOOD SPOT IN JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA🍤🦪 Sizemore’s Coastal Kitchen at Jax Beach is worth the stop. We tried a few dishes, enjoyed the view and it definitely lives up to the hype. If you’re in the area and craving coastal comfort food, this one’s a must. 📍333 First St N #seafood #jaxbeach #jaxflfood #sizemores #happyhour

I’d attended an event on the beach and kinda procrastinated grabbing food immediately afterwards. From riding in circles to sitting in empty parking lots I’d struggled with where and what to eat then finally iChose Sizemore’s. Unfortunately Apple Maps has their hours wrong but since iWasnt aware I’d proceeded to go anyways. Walked in and an amazing, bubbly, HIGH ENERGETIC spirit by the name of Tray welcomed me and suggested iHave a seat. I’d overheard they’d be closing at 9p and it was all of 8:35p at my time of entry. We’d went back and forth and she assured me I’d have quality food and a nice experience. NO LIES TOLD!!! I’d went to the bar and was greeted by Justin and Cam and man they didn’t hesitate to engage in conversation about my day while also educating me about the establishment, food menu and drinks. Talk about BIG ENERGY AND TIER CUSTOMER SERVICE. I’d ended up getting the Coral Kiss because they were out of Lavendar and OMG Cam did NOT disappoint on that drink. The presentation, the taste and the choice of glass… CAM iTHANK YOU AGAIN iTalked about that drink all night. Lol Justin- you MyGuy FA sure, the way you sold me on that Steak 🥩 Fritas was smooth, especially since iHad reservations about it. From the mushroom gravy to the way it was cooked, “GET IN THIS BELLY STEAK BABY” was all iChanted as iAte each bite. Lol Judge not- it was GOODT!!! Overall the location is a vibe, EVERYONE was pleasant and welcoming EVEN THOUGH IT WAS CLOSING TIME. iWas not rushed and able to enjoy MyMeal as if they’d just opened that doesn’t happen anymore. Most established that close at 9p discourage you starting 8p because they’re ready to shut that kitchen down, Lol! THANKS ALL for giving me an experience after having such a heavy evening at another experience that truly was a BLESSING for me. Kindness and Friendliness goes so far and today iGive Sizemore’s their flowers and also welcome you all to DUUUUUUUVAL (although you’re at the beach). Lol Thanks Team look forward to you doing your BIG ONE at the GRAND OPENING. May blessing OVERFLOW!!!

Sizemore's Coastal Kitchen is an absolute gem in Jacksonville Beach! Perfect for a night out or a casual coastal dinner. We started with a four appetizers (all very good), a couple of cocktails (highlight: Negroni) and then dove into what quickly became the highlight of our evening: the halibut special. It was perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and truly showcased the fresh, local ingredients that Sizemore’s is all about. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared, and the seafood is clearly fresh and handled with care. It’d very impressive they’re so newly opened- the food was so good. The prices are also very reasonable for the portion sizes and beachfront views. Also worth mentioning—the bathrooms were immaculate, super cute wallpaper, and had a changing table, which is a small detail but so appreciated for families. Can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu - like dessert- which we were too full to try.

I wanted to like this place, and knowing it is relatively new and still working out the overall kinks, I was willing to give them some benefit and consideration for that, even with our party of 8 adults on a Saturday evening... BUT, my lasting impression is that this restaurant will unfortunately not last. For a myriad of reasons:

It is surprisingly LOUD! I guess it is the design of the restaurant, or the walls/doors, and open layout but our party of 8 could not adequately have normal conversation among ourselves because you really can't hear across the table. So inevitably, you talk louder... and all the other patrons are fighting the same battle, so they are also talking louder, therein accentuating the problem.

The tile floor is remarkably slick and slippery -- and a yellow sign or two is not going to stave off the eventual lawsuit(s) when someone inevitably falls hard. Yes, the floor is that bad- and you have to walk on this section to get in, out, or to the restrooms. Y'all need to call Don't Slip Deck Coatings or a similar company, ASAP.

The service is bad, almost to the point of awful. Waiter was nice enough, but clearly inexperienced. Reservation at 6:45 - so far so good. Yay, our waters came first... then he eventually came back and took our drinks order (which each came out separately) then he eventually came back and asked about apps, which then also came out piecemeal... and though by now it's 7:35, we still had to beg for silverware, plates, and napkins. The apps were Ok, nothing special, though I would actually recommend the gator tail and the raw oysters, which got high praise.

Finally takes the food order and another round of drinks. I'm not exaggerating when I say our food came out almost 9pm. That is CRAZY. Food was good - the prices are not outrageous, they are as expected for seafood & such. But I would expect better quality and something to be worth the trip. Really, none of the food was great, just all 'meh' average, which was too bad.

So we ask for the check... and wait. And wait. And stand up, walk around, look for our waiter, a mgr, and finally the bartender offers to get him. Of course, our $800 bill is wrong, with overcharges, missing food, extra meals, etc. Finally get it fixed and no comp is offered, which was kinda surprising again considering it's now 930pm and we're still there... Yes, he needs to learn how to turn tables faster; we really should have been out in under 2 hrs.

Summary: food is OK, parking is terrible (always, everywhere in Jax Bch), service is slow, prices are fair, drinks were OK, but the ambiance needs help, especially the VOLUME and the slippery floor. For these reasons, I don't think Sizemore's will see many repeat customers, and suffer the unfortunate end that so many other restauranteurs have experienced in that space over the...

I CALLED and made a reservation for Saturday night so our family could celebrate an early Father’s Day to accommodate my son who flew in for the weekend. I specifically requested to be seated “inside” due to potential weather concerns. I did not want to take a chance for this special occasion with Florida’s unpredictable weather. With just an hour before our reservation, I received a call from the restaurant canceling it—citing inclement weather and their inability to accommodate our party of five “outdoors”.

I explained that my reservation had been made specifically for indoor seating precisely to avoid this issue. I was then transferred to another staff member who reiterated that they could not accommodate us inside and apologized. I expressed both my concern and disappointment with how the situation was being handled. There was no offer of a resolution or additional time options, just sorry we have to cancel.

Shortly afterward, I received a call from one of the owners, Alex, who personally apologized for the miscommunication and assured me they would, in fact, be able to honor our reservation with indoor seating. Although we had already made alternate plans, I greatly appreciated Alex taking the time to reach out directly and even offering his personal number in case we changed our minds.

What began as a frustrating experience was ultimately redeemed by Alex's professionalism and sincere effort to make things right. His genuine concern and effort changed my mind from never wanting to support or recommend this local business/restaurant to being genuinely impressed by the way the situation was handled. Alex, we look forward to being able to dine here in the future and write another review about the food and service. With great...
