Tavern On 1st Street — Restaurant in Jacksonville Beach

I usually enjoy going to this bar, they have a large bar, staffed with several bar tenders so you typically don't have to wait too long for your drinks other than the amount of time it takes to make the drink. They play a good mix of top 40 old and new. Their bathrooms have always been clean from my experience. If you'd like to have a good time and enjoy good drinks, I'd say this is a good place to go. But, one thing I DO NOT appreciate is one of the managers harassing one of my friends and saying that they were watching her and she hadn't bought a drink and if she wasn't buying a drink she needed to leave. First off, she had bought two drinks that night and I had bought at least four (Just FYI, when people drink their drinks at or near the bar and they finish them, they don't typically carry them to the dance floor. If you're going to be watching people, do a better job before you approach them with some BS). I thought this was the rudest thing and then, with no shame, he proceeded to ask how long ago she had bought her drinks. If you are not charging a cover to get into the bar why are you harassing people that you allowed to come into your establishment! It's not like she was bothering anyone nor was she causing a scene and she had in fact bought two drinks and at almost 10 dollars each, I think she deserved to dance the night away at this bar with out being harassed . And the worst part of it all, the guy didn't even apologize! But, one of the other guys that worked there came and took him away. I'd say, 4 of the 5 times I've been there, it was a great time but it only takes one screw up to loose a customer. If you keep treating people this way, you will loose your buisness to the surrounding establishments and trust me, there is not a shortage of fun bars in the area. I'm going to count this experience as a one off but, I swear, let this happen again, and I'll take my buisness elsewhere. We can take our hard earned money elsewhere and buy drinks at any of the dozens of bars that...

I would never recommend this bar to anyone!! I am a bartender and have been for 23 years now. When I ordered a Vegas bomb and the bartender proceeded to give me only crown with Red Bull I told her that she had made it wrong. She argued with me that that is how they make it… I told her that’s great but it’s still wrong and that’s not what I ordered. Then I showed her my phone with a recipe for a Vegas bomb and she still refused to make it properly and had her boss come over. So I tried to show her boss the correct way to make it and he caught an attitude with me & also told me, “that’s how we make them here”! Ok so wrong, you make them wrong and up charge people for a shot you’re not making?? Horrible service, they all think they’re just so cute that it doesn’t matter what they make and people will tip. The owners need to do better and re train their very inexperienced bartenders on drinks and good customer rapport. I won’t be back& I definitely won’t recommend them. I also blasted them on my social media so everyone will know and quite a few people shared their also, not so great experiences...

The bar is beautiful and the bartender was okay, that's the ONLY reason it received even a single start.... Definitely not recommended however. We went to go walk on the beach while visiting out of state friends and the bald security man (bouncer)with glasses ran towards us like a bulldog and snatched our drinks with no warning while screaming "no no no" at us, then threw $20 worth of drinks into the trash(as if he's the one who had to pay for it!!!) No explanation, NOTHING.. just ripped our drinks from our hands and threw it away.. Highly unimpressed. If you want a decent bar on the beach I recommend brix for food and lynches for drinks. There's nothing the tavern has to offer than any other bar on the strip doesn't. It would be nice to get a refund but we all know that's not going to happen. I recommend any bar in Jacksonville Beach, with the exclusion of this one. Happy bar hunting....

Side note: just avoid this bar general. The bouncers are just trash, they obviously don't know how to hire decent bouncer and when they get shut down for it, it won't...
