Ordered at 7:55pm on Saturday Night. Guy who took my order couldn't spell my name right so I spelled it for him. He was very slow at his job. Got to pay and he still didn't get my name right, I mean it's 4 letters and very common. Food STARTED coming out to our table (with 4 other people) around 8:30. First two orders to come out were wrong. One got fries who didn't order them and the other only got sausage when a sausage sandwich comes with much more toppings. Shorter individual who brought the food didn't know the menu when we told her the sandwich was wrong. She didn't know what the menu was or what was supposed to be in it. Next round of subs probably came around 8:40 which was my order and he still got my name wrong and brought it to me (name he put was Drake...) Then I said I'm missing fries and his exact response was, (funny I was actually about to tell you we are out). I said, okay but I paid for them and he said well there's nothing I can do. I said can I get a refund for the fries and he said I guess. The next sun comes out and has fries in the basket and we asked how come the other guy said there aren't anymore. We also said we're missing a sandwich to the lady and she didn't respond or anything. I go up to the register and ask her to call the manager and she said he's over there (by the grill) I said can you please bring him here and she ignores and does something else then comes back and brings the manager. His name was Jacob. I told him about the time it took (I understand they were getting busy but the wait still shouldn't have been over a half hour long) and he had nothing to say. Behind him, I showed him there are fries too and he had no response. I said do you have any explanation for this and he said no. Literally never once did he apologize. It's like the store manager just gave him the title without the training. I had to ask for a full refund for the service and so did my friends. There was also the missing sandwich which was never made while we were there for a half hour after this and there ended up being a hair in the fries. Also, the girl who decided to take over the grill station took her right hand (while she had a glove on) and was scratching her hair...this used to be a really good Penn station but after new management, it has gone seriously down. While just being there, numerous people bringing back take out orders for missing or messed up food and people waiting longer then we did. The sad part was, no apology, lied about the fries, and there's a full basket of potatoes sitting behind...
Read moreThis Penn Station location is quickly becoming one of my favorite sandwich shops. I've visited a few other locations, but this one has consistently been good experiences.
Located in a little strip mall with two other restaurants, this Penn Station is easy to see when driving either direction on Blankenbaker road and there is ample parking, even when all of the restaurants are at peak business times.
The menu is pretty varied, but basically centers around subs of some kind, and they come in 6", 8", 10", and 12" sizes. You can customize any sandwich just about any way you want. Any sub can also be prepared as a salad or as a wrap, for those healthier minded, less-bun types. They also offer cold sandwiches (and I would personally recommend the Italian).
As much as I love the Cheesesteak ( only steak, onion, banana peppers and easy on the mustard), their fries make a pretty good case for themselves. Cut fresh and cooked in cholesterol-free peanut oil, I would gladly cross the street against traffic for their fries. They're also kind enough to provide malt vinegar for them.
We've eaten at this location a number of times and never had a problem...until our most recent visit. I ordered the Cheesesteak (as previously described). When my fries and my wife's sandwich came out the young lady told us that the girl who prepared my sub made a mistake and put cheese on it, and that a new one was being prepared and would be out shortly...
(At this time I'd like to interject that this is one of the very rare times when I pass on the cheese on a sandwich. To me, the basic ingredients serve this sandwich best.)
...and she wasn't kidding, either, because the replacement sandwich was there in less than three minutes. Steaming hot and prepared just the way I liked.
High marks to the staff for not only admitting that someone made a mistake (which really wasn't THAT big a deal, because I would have eaten it anyway), but for taking care of it promptly. Every time we've visited the service has been prompt, helpful, and friendly.
So...looking for good service, killer subs, and amazing fries? THIS...
Read moreNew employees don’t seem to understand what’s going on or the concept of customer service. Ordered online, came in to pickup 10 minutes after it was supposed to be ready. It wasn’t. I was told it was still being made. After waiting another 10 minutes, I realized It wasn’t and they would have to start from scratch. I didn’t have time so I requested a refund. The cashier could not do it for some unknown reason. The cook was the only one who could provide the refund but would not because he was cookin. He said I would get a refund in 3-5 days Exceptionally rude guy and somehow I doubt I’ll get a refund. Great job Penn Station Blankenbaker! You lost a consistent customer over the past 3 years. The previous crew knew my name and my order. The new crew doesn’t seem to know (or care) about anything.
In response to the owner suggesting I go to the website and provide my comments, I did that. The response from Todd the General Manager was condescending and beyond insincere, reinforcing the fact that this location has gone completely downhill and no...
