Basile's Pizza — Restaurant in Jersey City

Took my children to the eye doctor and they wanted pizza. 5 guys behind the counter and none of them spoke good enough English to understand my order. The customer service sucked. I ordered a large pie half cheese half pepperoni with an additional slice on the side with extra cheese. They literally put the additional slice with the pie. I DON'T EAT PORK. So I ended up not eating any of the pizza. Then the guy tries to hand me a hot metal pizza tray in my bare hand. When I asked for something to help not burn me or my children he seemed annoyed and told me to grab napkins. I told him no because I didn't want my toddler who is experiencing her first allergy attack to accidentally burn herself. They told me they had nothing aside from the metal try. I asked for a pizza box they said they don't do pizza boxes for orders unless it's to go. I told them I'm not comfortable taking the tray. They told me they don't recycle the pizza boxes and I would have to take it when I leave and I said fine no problem. Then came the issue of the plates. They became even more annoyed that I asked for plates. The atmosphere was unwelcoming and I personally don't recommend people eating their. 36.50 for a large pie half and half with 1 slice of exrea cheese and 2 drinks and this was a horrible experience. I told my children we would go hungry before we patronize this business again while...

I had been to this place a few times before I made this comment so that my comment would reflect the norm of the business.

The bottom of the pizza was always burnt from the residue or dirt of the oven. I really have no idea when they cleaned the oven last. Pest could crawl at night. Was I eating the "output" from the pest? No idea.

A bottom crunchy pizza is NOT a burnt pizza. If they think it is the same, they just don't know how to make pizza.

The service was fast since they pre-made a lot of pizza and they just need to warm up the pizza when you order.

Most of the customers just do takeouts and only a few tables are available. Customers waiting for their pizza could very well be by your table, thus there is no atmosphere.

THIS IS THE 4th TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. We tried to make this our ‘go to neighborhood spot’, but every time we do an online order we wait the hour+ then once it’s ready, we go in and they make it when we get there. It seems like they don’t care! It’s incredibly frustrating and every time we ask the guy behind the counter he says they gave our pizza away to another customer. It doesn’t make sense because this last time we left our place and got there as the alert said our order is ready. When we got there the guy said it will be a minute, then in Spanish (he didn’t know I could speak Spanish) he told the other guy to make it. This is ridiculous and the ownership group seems like they are keen on making money and that’s it. They are charging $33+ for a pizza when it should be $20 or less. WERE DONE WITH THIS CHAIN!...
