Came here after the New Jersey Devils game. The online menu options looked exquisite and we were looking for a halal option. We went as a group of 4. Our group ordered the Goat Dum Biryani, Chicken 65, Fried Chicken Wings, Chicken Do Piyaza. We weren't provided utensils at the beginning, we had to request it, maybe they were busy. Saw two waitstaff and it's a busy restaurant. There is a hand washing sink to whoever wants to eat with their hand, which is a great option. It was very dark inside, you would have to turn on your flashlight to see the food that you are eating. At least the light should be where you can see the food that you are eating. When our food came, each of our food came separately and we didn't want to eat without having everyone's food on the table. The Chicken wings tasted like it was fried in coconut oil. It was delicious. We asked for sauce, the restaurant ran out of sauce. They gave us biryani curry sauce and raita instead. The raita surprisingly was blended onions. The smell was pungent. Raita is mostly yogurt based with cucumber and mint or parsley. I don't think I have ever been disappointed at a restaurant as I had that night for dinner. We were going to go to a Spanish restaurant but chose Indian because of love for Indian food. But, you can't expect all Chef to be the same. Chicken Do Piyaza came out saucy like chicken karahi, not your average Chicken Do Piyaza. However, it was very good, whatever it was. We took a bite out of the Goat Biryani. I saw our group was putting it in their plate, tasting it, and putting the rice and goat in the side of their plate by avoiding it. I tasted it and understood right away why they were putting the Goat Biryani aside. The goat had the smell of raw goat or such a strong goat smell. The biryani rice smothered in goat oil killed the biryani and the whole biryani smelled like a very bad smell. One of the member of the group felt nauseated. I requested the staff that I did not want to pay for the Goat Dum Biryani. Gave them the reason why. They said that the smell is normal. There was no way that smell was normal. Marination can keep the smell of the goat away. There is a technique to cook the goat. Chef needs re-education on Culinary etiquettes of Indian cuisine. By the way, the restaurant menu items are very expensive. Not your average everyday food. If the food was finger licking good, I would be happy to pay and even tip. The waitstaff looked tired, not well rested, they look like they were not focused. Shame on the owners. I can't believe this place has more than a 4 star. The restaurant was kind enough to remove the charge for the Goat Dum Biryani. I really wanted to try their Chili chicken and the fish items. I'll save it for...

Read moreI usually don't write negative reviews for any restaurants , anywhere we don't like the food , we just simply don't go back . By positive google reviews, we came here from edison , but every order of ours was screwed up. We ordered full tandoori chicken , chicken angara , 2 naans and family size goat biryani , enough food for our family of 2 adults and 2 kids. The only thing I requested the waiter was not to garnish raw onions on any of our orders. After waiting for quite a while they brought us 4 drumsticks and 3 thigh pieces in the name of full tandoori chicken, I asked the waiter that , can something be done about this because we ordered the full chicken and expecting chicken breast meat as well because I don't eat dark meat , he said this is what we serve, after a while he said I can get you complimentary chicken tikka as it has chicken breast meat , I was happy about it. Then he brought chicken qorma and tandoori roti , I told him that we didn't order this, we ordered Chicken Angara with Naan , at that point my mood was really off , but kids were hungry, so my husband & kids just ate little of that. Then he brought us goat biryani, which was filled with raw onions on top of it ( request totally ignored ). Everyone was pissed as we don't eat raw onions. I told him to remove the raw onions and just pack it and make it a to go order . Everyone's mood was off, and we went home empty stomach even after ordering so much food. Food was just average . While paying for the bill, I asked for the itemised bill and saw they were charging for the complimentary chicken tikka & took off angara because they brought wrong order , I told him tikka was complimentary, how can you charge for it ? I asked for the manager or owner , and there was no one around . The waiter called the owner on the phone and said the owner was not agreeing or else he would have to pay out of his pocket .I felt bad for the waiter.
Being a Muslim ourselves , we love to support our community ,especially who serve zabiha halal meat in their restaurants , but this kind of service was totally unacceptable and unprofessional , how can kitchen staff screw up every order ? If things are not available, then customer should be informed beforehand not just serve them anything you have available & charge them for complimentary item.
After going home, I opened goat biryani, as you can see from the picture, it was stale and not cooked on same day , the goat meat was also dried up & had gamey smell to it . It was a total waste of money and time. This is called looting people's money . Shame on such...
