SuLuna — Restaurant in Jersey City

We had high expectations coming in, but this restaurant was a huge letdown. First, we were required to put down a $100 deposit just to make a reservation. When we arrived, we found out the air conditioning wasn’t working — which is completely unacceptable for any restaurant, let alone one that demands a deposit. To make matters worse, my daughter has a heart condition, so sitting in a hot, uncomfortable dining room was not only unpleasant but also a health concern.

We decided to stay only because we had already put money down and heard good things about the food. The food itself was fine, but the customer service was awful. No one offered any real apology or accommodation for the situation, and when our bill came, they “forgot” to take off the $100 deposit we had already paid. Having to point that out after everything else was insulting and unprofessional.

Overall, this was a disappointing and frustrating experience. For a place that charges deposits and carries a reputation of quality, the lack of basic hospitality, communication, and accountability was shocking. Definitely not worth...

Suluna is such a lovely, clean, and well-designed space. The atmosphere is amazing, and I really wanted to love it. That said, my oysters weren’t fresh and had a noticeable odor, plus they weren’t fully chilled. On top of that, I saw the bartender handle drink garnishes with bare hands after touching multiple surfaces, which was a little unsettling. Delicious Latin dishes all around with their own take! Guacamole and chips (fresh and with terra chips), tacos from Mexico. Paella (delicious and toppings can be chosen) from Spain. Steak from South American. And many more.

Seating outdoors and indoors. Bar setting with TVs and a fun environment.

An enthusiastic service and hospitality from all.
