Tassili Grill — Restaurant in Jersey City

I have been picking up lunch from here weekly as I work in the area. As such, I have tried multiple menu items and they all have been absolutely incredible. I would say it is easily the best food I have ever had from a food truck. I tried the chicken, lamb, and merguez sausage (definitely try the sausage, it is wonderful and unlike anything I ever had before). The falafel is so well made and it is absolutely a treat. You can tell that he uses high quality ingredients. The sides like the rice, pita and salad are cooked well and incredibly fresh.

The owner himself is also so kind - you can tell that he takes great pride in his food. He remembers my usual order and tries his best to make sure every customer is satisfied with their meal. I never get tired of the food and anything you order off the menu will be delicious. Yesterday, we were checking out restaurants around Jersey City and came across Tassili Grill. Based on the reviews, we decided to go to this food vendor with very high expectations. We traveled all the way from Edison, which took almost an hour. However, when we arrived, there was another vendor at the address instead of Tassili Grill. I tried calling to ask for their exact location, but there was no answer. Either the business hours or the address was wrong, plus the phone number they provided didn’t work. We searched around the blocks for about 20 minutes but couldn’t find them, so we ended up going to a different place to get something to eat.

I hope they will correct their information on Google to serve customers better so that one day we can find them and, hopefully, give a 5-star review—if we can find them! Hands down the best food truck lamb and rice I've ever had. The lamb was moist and in irregular chunks (not strips), didn't taste previously frozen. The greens (lettuce/tomatoes/bell peppers) were all fresh and crisp. The yellow rice was fresh and moist as well. The chef asked me about portion size for the rice (if I wanted more) but it was a generous amount to start with so I declined.

The chef gave me a taste of the merguez (a north African sausage) which was one of the most flavorful things I can remember eating in recent memory. He said he gets it fresh from a local butcher and I believe it. I will definitely get that when I go back...though the lamb was delicious, the merguez was out of this world good.

Chef was very friendly. It was a dead Tuesday night and he was still very engaged with me and generous to cook and offer the sample of the merguez.
