Iād like to start this review , by saying that I am a 3 year Jersey City resident and I am adamant about supporting new businesses in my community . So when I heard about the new speakeasy open I was super excited to come in and support. I went to kitchen step for dinner and then stopped in here for a drink with my two girlfriends after an extremely rough day. As I sit back & engage in conversation my hair goes on fire. Im loving this vibe of the dim lighting all of it. However having a candle directly behind me away from my peripheral was a safety hazard. The bartender Lexi wasnāt in anyway apologetic she said āI donāt decorate hereā. I asked to speak to the manager, Tedd who proceeded to make me feel as if I did something wrong by sitting down and not realizing that directly behind me at a table there was a candle lit behind me. I tried explaining this to the manager he states if it were him heād be aware of his surroundings which baffled me Iām not saying he needed to cherish the ground I walk on but I worked in the service industry for 9 years and if I even stepped on someoneās shoe my level of empathy differs from the experience these people gave me. Unfortunately I will not return here. My experience from beginning to end was very unpleasant. Dullboy & Kitchen step never gets it wrong even Franklin social but Junto is the perfect sexy space with the wrong people. I tried my best to kindly explain to the manager āhey listen I just want you guys be more aware if someone sits here not to put a candle directly behind themā which he replies āyou keep repeating yourselfā I had to go in the bathroom to recollect myself . Itās very unfortunate that the staff was not empathetic to a situation that was ultimately traumatic. I hope this review just sheds some light on how people handle situations like this one in hospitality & to whom ever visits to be very careful if there happens to be a candle directly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had a surprise birthday party for my wife at Junto Attic bar this past weekend, and the event was absolutely magical. The space, as other Google reviews highlight, is gorgeous and classy and makes for a wonderful experience, whether you are just popping in for a cocktail or attending a special event.
What makes Junto stand out from other 'speakeasies' in NJ or in NYC is the Franklin Social / Junto team. From the time I first reached out to them by email to set a date for the event, to my in person planning visit where we discussed drink and food selections and personal touches that could be made to the space, to the night of the birthday event itself, the team was absolutely phenomenal. Annmarie from the events team was highly knowledgeable, and extremely responsive during the planning phase and up until the event itself, and the Junto team there on the day (including two amazing bartenders who were so friendly that we would have invited them to the party as guests had we known them beforehand!) made our friends feel welcome and well taken care of for the whole evening.
I could go on, but I will close here simply by saying that I had no hesitation whatsoever in writing this well-deserved five star Google review. A special and heartfelt THANK YOU to the entire Franklin Social / Junto Attic Bar team for contributing to a truly memorable surprise birthday party for my wife, which she (and our entire group) will remember fondly for years. We will definitely be back for...
Ā Ā Ā Read morewent here couple of weeks ago as well as about a month ago.. both times left just a bit disappointed .. I was kind of really excited when i first out abt this spot and saw the reviews but the first time we went.. we discovered the table next to us had gotten complimentary cocktails in cute teacups (tables are quite close to each other so sometimes you get to talking lol) they were also ordering dealers choice and each time the bartender would come out tell them what was in it etc and so my bf and i decided we gotta come back try that next time
so we went back 2/12th .. it was a diff bartender a lady this time... the table next to us had ordered dealers choice as well and she came out same as what we d seen last time where she told them what she had crafted it with etc... but with us.. she comes gets our preferences BUT then instead of the usual process where she comes out to tell us whats what.. it was just delivered to us but the server (who btw spilled quite a bit of drink in the process of serving smh) . when i tasted the drink i think i understood why lol... i'd chosen whiskey, strong and stirred in rocks glass and instead of something diff/creative she 'd made me an old fashioned lol like come one.. my bf ordered whiskey, spicy , coupe and his drink was sweet instead of spicy! mind you these drinks were not 'bad' but when you're paying extra for dealers choice and you get a different treatment in different things not once but twice! its going to leave a bad taste...
