China Garden — Restaurant in Jim Thorpe

First and foremost, I have done both dine-in and takeout options (the Google review allows users to select one option: dine-in, takeout, or delivery).

One of my favorite places to eat in Jim Thorpe, PA because it’s cheap 😂

China Garden, nestled at 61 Broadway in Jim Thorpe, is a local gem that offers delectable meals at affordable prices. From 11 AM to 3 PM, six days a week, they serve lunch specials featuring white rice or pork fried rice, accompanied by a choice of soups like egg drop, wonton, or hot and sour. If you’re planning to dine in for lunch, it’s best to arrive before 11:30 AM to secure a table, as there’s no formal waiter or waitress service. Instead, your orders will be brought to your table by the friendly staff.

Please consider giving a small tip or gratuity like $1 or $2, no matter how small or large your order is. The plastic tip box is located near the counter by the cash register, or you can give the tip to the staff (don’t leave the tip on the table). You know what I mean to give a small tip or gratuity especially during lunch.

In my most recent weekend getaway trip to Jim Thorpe (during Covid), we found ourselves short of dining choices at night. Most places where only serving drinks or just closed, but good ol' China Garden was still open! I was surprised to find that they were still willing to cook up a batch of meals for us when nobody else would. So for that alone I am extremely thankful for the kind and quick service they provided. We would have been out of options and going to sleep hungry if it wasn't for them. Unfortunately the food was lacking flavor, and an order of eggdrop soup was practically all water. No actual eggs. Our experience at China Garden, the Chinese restaurant, was truly enjoyable. We started with the sweet and sour soup, which was a perfect blend of flavors. The vegetable fried rice, shrimp fried rice, and chicken lo mein were all delicious, and each dish had its distinct taste. We were impressed with the quality and taste of the food.

Moreover, the restaurant itself had a pleasant ambiance, making our meal even more delightful. The staff was attentive, and the service was excellent.
