My wife and I stopped here in March 24, 2012. We loved the decor, the setting, the quaint street it was on - everything about it seemed like the right kind of place for a nice date-night. There was a 20 minute wait for a table so we went into the bar for a beer while we waited. Being beer-snobs, we were delighted with the great selection of beer, both bottled and drought. The Syracuse / Ohio B-ball game was starting so we decided to take a table in the bar to watch it, instead of seat in the dining room. We ordered an appetizer - it was good. Our server "Mike" came back and was seemed inattentive. He gathered up our menus and turned to leave without asking what we wanted for dinner. We had to tell him that we wanted to order. My wife gave her order and he turned to walk away again and I had to tell to to hold on - that I'd like some dinner too! He turned to walk again and AGAIN we had to stop him to ask for another round of beer. He came back a few minutes later, without the beer, to ask my wife what side option she wanted. She told him that the menu claimed that no sides were included with her order. He told her she was mistaken and ask for her selection. We asked for our beer again. He came back a couple minutes later, without our beer, to tell my wife that she was correct, that she does not get a side, then asked me what my dinner order was again (he forgot). I told him and then asked AGAIN for our beers. He finally brought our beer then. We watched three other couples come in, place orders, get their food without issue - we still had not received ours meal, and Mike was not coming around to check on us. Finally my wife spoke at him two tables away that we were STILL waiting for our meal. He quickly left his conversation and returned from the kitchen with our luke-warm, heat-lamp kept, dried-out dinners, placed them on our table and walked away without a word. Being we had just waited a full 1st half of a March Madness B-ball game for our meal, we were hungry and ate it even though it was not fresh. It tasted good - but I'm sure it would have been fantastic if it was brought to us 20 minutes earlier when it was ready. It was not until we were completely done eating that he finally came back. He didn't ask us how it was, but I told him anyway - that it was obvious that it was sitting under the heat lamp for an extended period of time - that he must have forgotten about us. He said it was the "runner's" responsibility to bring out the meal to us when it's ready. I say it is the server's responsibility to make sure his/her customers are taken care of and NOT pass the buck to the "runner". To sum it up; great place, great beer, great location, great food - if you get a server who doesn't disappoint your experience. We would not rate this place based on our experience of one server. Clearly we were the "unlucky" ones that evening. We noted that others were having much better experiences than we...
Read moreI want to preface this review with the fact that I have NEVER in my life left any review, let alone a negative one. However, my experience at this establishment was the worst I’ve had in memory. Additionally, I’d like to say that we dined here during the fall festival, and although it was moderately busy, at best, perhaps this was the reason they forgot all etiquettes in running a respectable establishment.
My husband, infant son, and I stopped in to BG and P for lunch before we explored the town. We were promptly seated and given waters by our hostess and told our waitress would be with us shortly. However, after a half hour, we still did not get our order taken, despite several tables being sat around us and the waitress walking by our table looking at our drinks. Not once did she ask if we needed refills, check in on us, or see if our order had been taken. Eventually, my husband asked if our server could please take our order, to which the waitress responded she thought we had already been waited on. Big mistake... but I get it, mistakes happen. We are from a tourist town, and we know things can get crazy. Our order was taken after that. My husband ordered a cheeseburger, and I ordered an Incredible burger. Over an hour later (1.5 hours total), our food still wasn’t received, despite tables getting their checks after being seated after us. When our food finally arrived, I told the waitress that our experience was completely unsatisfactory from the time we arrived, and she went to get the manager. The manager apologized and offered to pay for our drinks (2 beers). I said that was fine, and we began to eat our meals. I’ve only eaten Incredible burgers a few times in my life, all times I’ve commented how they closely related beef so much, that it almost made me feel like I was eating meat. I’m fairly certain the burger given was not an Incredible burger, but a over done, charred, dry veggie patty. I never send food back, but I really could not eat it. When I sent the food back, the manager said he would take it off of our bill. He told us that “things happen” and apologized. However, as I informed him, we were never told there was an issue with our server or order, nor were the issues attempted to be rectified throughout. After close to two hours, we left 20 dollars for my husband’s burger, that he did not eat, and left. We could have dealt with the poor service and food, but the customer service by both our waitress and manager was unacceptable. This establishment...
Read moreWe were seated by the hostess and then I believe the manager came to us and said that our service dog had to lay down. Our service dog was sitting but that wasn’t good enough for her she wanted her laying on the floor. The dog was quiet not bothering anyone nor barking just sitting quietly. Laying down is not required and the manager made my husband feel so uncomfortable we left. She was rude and discriminated against a disablilty and having to have a service dog. She had a bad attitude so we left and went to East Mauch Chuck Eatery where the food was fabulous and they welcomed myself, my husband and our service dog. In response to the owner - NO my dog is not an emotional support dog, she is a service dog. I have document proving it. She was not disruptive she was sitting down next to me but you wanted her laying on the floor so someone can step on her. It is not required to lay on the floor. Laying on the floor is not her JOB. She preforms her job perfectly and is well behaved. When we left breakfast at East Mauch Chuck Eatery the lady commented on how well behaved she was. Your problem was just the person you are not very nice. If Sitting down and being quiet is not being behaved and required you to insist she lay flat on the floor then you have a problem. Response to your second comment your restaurant people are LIARS LIARS. She was well behaved and sitting on the floor your server wanted her laying on the floor. YOUR RESTAURANT WAS THE ONLY ESTABLISHMENT THAT WAS RUDE AND HAD A PROBLEM. Every where else said she was well behaved. We were there for four days and went to several different restaurants and were greeted and welcomed unlike your restaurant. You are all LIARS and I doubt anyone complained because she was sitting down not even making a sound. I wouldn’t go to your restaurant if the food was free there are a lot of other restaurants at Jim Thorpe that have friendly staff. You were the only unfriendly restaurant at Jim Thorpe. PATRONS IF YOU ARE A DOG LOVER PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. THEY TREATED MY SERVICE DOG AWFUL THEN LIED ABOUT A INNOCENT DOG. this establishment has proven my point about how non-friendly they are, if I had a restaurant and there was a problem with a patron and my staff I would apologize for any misunderstandings that there were and move on just as most restaurants, or any type of decent place that had any issue going on would. Instead, you continue to go back-and-forth with me I will not...
