A Wonderful Stay!!!!Just spent a weekend away with my husband in Jim Thorpe. The hotel is located right in the heart of Jim Thorpe, walking distance from all the restaurants, cafes, and unique stores. The hotel is nestled above Molly Maguire's pub, but you wouldn't know it, as it was extremely quiet and in the hotel, you would never know there was a bar so close. Molly Maguire's is also worth checking out too. :) Just to note, after accessing the hotel, you do go up a flight of stairs. Our room at Hotel Switzerland was warm and charming; the room was amazingly lit with natural light through the tall windows. It also had an en-suite bathroom. It reminded me of a room in a Victorian bed and breakfast- a good thing! We had great nights sleep too. I really enjoy coming to Jim Thorpe and I will absolutely stay here again.
I rated the rooms 4 stars because, if you want the sleek, modern feel of a brand-new Hilton-style hotel, it isn't that, But it is cozy and has charm and character that make for a more unique and inviting stay.
I rated 5 for service as when we first checked in, we realized we had mistakenly booked a room which did not have an en-suite. The hotel were really accommodating and changed our room for us. The other room was nice too, but I did want an en-suit bathroom.
I rated 5 for location because the hotel really is right in the center of Jim Thorpe. It is at one end of the main street, and the whole street is a great stroll filled with boutiques, galleries, bars, cafes, and...
Read moreThe Hotel Switzerland provided us with a lovely stay in Jim Thorpe. Our room was clean and comfortable. It was located on the third floor and the hotel has no elevator, so plan accordingly. The rooms are on the second and third floor of the building with a lovely Irish bar on the ground floor. We had a room that required us to share the bath with the other rooms on our floor, but that was never a problem, and we rarely saw the other residents of our floor. | |Parking for the hotel is either on the street or at the train station lot across the road. Parking can be tight during peak times on weekends and pretty much anytime in October when the leafs are turning. You can park in the train station lot for free from 6 pm to 9 am and then an all-day parking session is $15. You can pay for parking at the train station and in downtown Jim Thorpe with an app.||Our room was small but comfortable and the A/C worked well. Breakfast can be had a number of locations within walking distance.||I would highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Jim Thorpe. I would also recommend visiting Jim Thorpe mid-week because weekends can be quite busy. I hear that weekends in October are extremely busy and that the town restricts traffic going through town to control...
Read moreWe were in Jim Thorpe for 24 hours for a concert and the bike train. We wanted to be right in town as we did not have a lot of time in between events. Except for a couple of really high priced B and B's, there was no availability except at the Hotel Switzerland. We decided to go for it as it was only 1 night so how bad could it be? What a nice surprise! Check in was at the bar and took about 30 seconds. We were in room 8 on the 3rd floor. The room had a double bed, a single bed, a TV, a couple of dressers and was right across the hall from 2 bathrooms, one of which had a shower AND a claw foot tub. There were bottles of water left for us in the room and a 24 hour coffee station down the hall. The room was neat and clean and there was no noise whatsoever from the bar. We had to get moving at 7:00 in the morning so just left the keys on the dresser, shut the door and that was that. The location was perfect, the room was fine and the price was way less than anything else in town. I don't see any reason why we would stay anywhere else when...
