Let me preface this (long) review by saying 1. I am not one to write negative reviews especially not for local businesses. 2. I didn’t even get the chance to actually eat at Stone Row because our experience was so negative that we left as we were being taken back to get seated. Upon arrival we saw a piece of paper posted to the door that said no more than 15 people allowed in the waiting area. We quickly popped our heads in to put our name down on the waiting list and we were greeted by who we assumed to be the owner of the restaurant. She told us that the wait would be about 30 to 35 minutes. We then walked down the road to a little shop and we weren’t even there for all of five minutes before we decided to go back and wait outside of Stone Row as we didn’t want to miss our reservation. We found ourselves a little spot outside by the window and waited for our names to be called. We had to have been 10 feet or less away from the door. We watched the woman come out a couple times and call names from the waitlist. We then decided to see if there was any waiting space inside We found a spot inside and continued our wait. We could tell that they were having a pretty busy lunch rush. We then noticed that people who had put their names down on the waitlist after us were being called to be seated. I very kindly expressed to the woman that we had been waiting for awhile and had put down our names well before some of the people who were being called to be seated. My confusion clearly upset her, because I then started to get scolded by her because she “had called our names for four minutes” (we had just watched her call a name off the waitlist two times and not even go outside to see if they were outside - but sure let’s go with that “you called our name for four minutes”) I continued to speak with kindness as I apologized to her and tried to explain to her that we were waiting just right outside and had not left the area for more than five minutes max - she kept speaking over me and scolding me me saying “this is why people need to pay attention when they put their names down for reservations”. As we were tired and hungry we did not argue and allowed her to have her moment as we chalked it up to her being overwhelmed with the lunch rush. We were told we would be able to get seated and we would have to wait which we once again accepted with patience and kindness. She then returned about five minutes later telling us that she could get us seated but first, she wanted to make sure that we had scanned the QR code on our phone and had read the menu (we had watched her force people to pull up the QR code on their phone the entire time we had been waiting so this was no surprise to us). I pulled up the menu on my phone as I had been looking at it the entire time we had been waiting. She then asked my boyfriend to show her the menu on his phone (as if two people can’t look at a menu on one phone?) Although he had also been looking at the menu on his phone – his phone was having trouble loading the page. She proceeded to stand there and wait for him to pull the menu up as if he was in kindergarten while making remarks as if she didn’t actually believe that we were looking at the menu? She did not stop this inquisition until he “proved” to her that he had looked on the menu by telling her that he was going to order the barbecue. Since we had finally proved to her that we were worthy enough to get seated she proceeded to take us back. This whole interaction left me feeling so strange that on our way to go back to the table and I said “I don’t even think I want to eat here anymore” and we left. I wish I could attach a video of the interaction so readers could truly understand how unsettling my interaction with this woman was. As a kind human being, since this interaction I have tried to give her the benefit of the doubt and excuse her behavior. However, every time I try I am brought to the same conclusion which is there is no excuse for the way we were treated. I am not sure who this woman...

The drinks were amazing as well. I would recommend the 1911 Cider Donut Hard Cider. It tasted just like an apple cider donut! Our waitress was even kind enough to give me cinnamon sticks in a to-go bag when I bought 2 cans of it to take with me so that I could "drink it as intended". They offer a variety of cocktails, canned drinks, and soooo many different whiskeys. You can even get a whiskey flight!
Our waitress was absolutely darling and was happy to talk about the town and just gave an overall welcoming and warm energy. Even the busboy was super kind and offered to take our photo without us even asking. The staff are just as charming as the food.
Speaking of which, the star of the show was 100% the burger I got. I ordered the "Kim-Cheese" Beef Burger (cheddar and kimchi-mayo), and I was hands-down the best burger I have had in my life. It was the perfect size, absolutely dripping with juices even when cooked medium-well, and the flavor was to die for. The freshly-ground, never-frozen meat alone was so overpowering that I couldn't even taste much of the other ingredients. Top that with the fact that they bake their own buns inhouse, and you've got a burger you just can't top.
Used part of my bun to mop up the juices from the burger that were on my plate. It is a must-have if you go here!
They change their menu every day based off of what is fresh in stock, and they are very conscious of allergies and dietary restrictions. They are a 100% nut-free restaurant! Which was perfect for my girlfriend's allergies. They also offer a variety of gluten-free and vegan options. Those house-made buns I mentioned earlier? Gluten-free and I didn't even know until our waitress pointed it out.
My only regret is that I didn't order dessert 😢
All-in-all, this place MUST be a stop if you're thinking about visiting Jim Thorpe.
TL;DR: Incredible/fresh food, best burgers ever, staff are amazing, worth the wait, don't pass on the drinks, all within an 1880's stone building...
Read moreNot one to post reviews but just giving an honest opinion. First the positive. The food was very well prepared and tasted wonderful. 8 of 10. Now the many negatives. They do not take reservations but claim they can accommodate just about any time. They claim to have a small staff but many tables. Got there with a full waiting area of people. Waited over half hour just to be seated. Order a cocktail while waiting. It was tasty but not worth a high end restaurant New York City price. Was taken to seat and passed off many many empty tables along the way. We were seated 20 feet from an individual and next to him was a 30 lb dog! I am a dog lover and owner but there is a time and place to bring a dog to a public place and a restaurant is not one of them. The entire time we were there that dog was shaking its head and scratching itself. It appeared the restaurant knew this individual but regardless of being a frequent local, this I feel is unsanitary and if DOH would not allow a dog in the kitchen, one should would not be allowed where public is eating. Next issue was absolutely no bread or anything offered at the table. This would not be a big issue except for the fact we waited 45 minutes! for our meal to be provided. It would be nice to have a little something while sitting there for such a long duration. Another small issue was that I requested some lemons for our water that was provided. The waitress never provided and when the food finally delivered I asked again. When they brought it was almost comical the two small pieces of lemon given. I wish I took a picture. The last issue was the bill. I requested the bill and waited another 15 minutes. The hostess came over with a bit of attitude and handed us a large tablet with requested tip recommendations and stood there like a hawk watches its prey. We felt uncomfortable and although we provided 20% tip, we wish would could have a moment to discuss a and contemplate giving less due to the not so great service. As noted, I am not one to provide a reviews but wish I read an honest review prior to going there which is why I am writing this. The entire experience was 2 1/2 hours! and we ate at several other local places during our weekend getaway that we certainly would...
