UPDATE: Since posting this review yesterday, I have been personally contacted by both of the owners of Wild Elder, and they've both done everything they can to apologize and make the situation right. I'm grateful for the apology, and have changed this to a five star review. Hoping to be able to visit them the next time I'm in Jim Thorpe!

We were really looking forward to visiting this place due to the other reviews on Google (and wanting to try elderberry wine!). Unfortunately, we never got to see it. Made an appointment via the website last week for noon today, which was confirmed by the owner later that day. The app which was used to make the appointment also sent us numerous reminders of it, so I'm assuming they did the same for him, including this morning. We arrived about 10 minutes early to find a locked tasting room and no sign of anyone else. This looks to be a very small family operation, so we figured he'd be there shortly, and waited by the car. 25 minutes later (15 minutes past our appointment time), I received a text via the app saying my appointment had been cancelled, along with an email containing a message from the owner which said, "sorry. I have an appointment this afternoon." We completely understand that emergencies come up, however, to be cancelled on after waiting for nearly 30 minutes due to another appointment for the owner tells me that we were forgotten about, which is a shame. We've gone to visit some other nearby wineries today, but are sad to have had this experience...
Read moreThe drink we had (honey something? Mead maybe) was absolutely delicious. 5 stars for the taste of it. However, it was $10.xx for a small little paper cup, which gave us some sticker shock. It's a tourist town, so that's ultimately forgiveable and it's our fault for not checking ahead of time. Our issue was the service we received at the counter. The person serving seemed like they were annoyed by our very presence in the store. We asked for a suggestion between a few drinks that we had narrowed down, and they kind of scoffed and told us that we should just get a flight. I understand that the drinks that we picked weren't super similar in flavours, but was it really that difficult to just pick one for us to have? Perhaps suggest whichever one you like more, or whichever one is more popular? Anything but telling us to just buy them both + more and offering no help. Outside of that, they were just generally cold in their interactions. It should be noted that it wasn't busy at all during this. We were the...
Read moreWild Elder was definitely a highlight of our recent trip to Jim Thorpe.
Tucked away in a shared space with another great local donut spot, our Wild Elder experience was fantastic from beginning to end.
We walked in and were quickly helped and given an overview of the options available across the different wines, ciders, and food options. We selected a flight of various wines and ciders, and also a caprese salad which was specially made for us when I misheard the actual menu item being offered of a caprese sandwhich.
We were served our order outside on their delightful back patio, complete with lights, seating, and easy access to the restrooms.
All of the options we ordered tasted great, and the pricing was very fair overall. I'd highly recommend visiting Wild Elder, it was a...
