We used to enjoy a visit on the way home after visiting children/grandchildren. We would stay overnight nearby and spend the next day in Jim Thorpe. We left early this time because there were so many people walking through the streets without masks. The "risk/reward" incentive was to leave. Instead this time, we had dinner in a town near our home where they have a "mask ordinance" and people mostly comply. The town is beautiful and the shops are all interesting and the train ride and trails a great way to spend a day. However, we won't be back for a year or two when this whole pandemic is over. The Lehigh Valley Gorge train ride was sold out when we arrived and you can't purchase tickets online the same day. Stupid rule by the way. The trolley tour was sold out. In Jim Thorpe, the people in the visitors center and at the train station booth were so nice and informative about what to expect on the train rides and the length of ride. My daughter visits with me from WV. Twice we have taken a trip in the fall season just to take a train ride and see the beautiful colors of leaves changing. The visitors center was so helpful about the history and current events of the town and were to eat good food! Great memories made...
