Faith RESTORED in mankind...please read...A great evening watching these guys REM trib. "Dead Letter Office" something awesome happened.I was purchasing a few beverages for my honey and I at the amazing Mauch Chunk Opera House and talking with the most friendly volunteer/Bartenders "T N T " (Theresa and Trish) and then went up stairs to find a seats as the show was starting.....heres where it gets good...Theresa found us at our seats and asked me if I dropped something...and found I did..it was 100$s she said what denomination and I said (2) 50's which she then gave back to me...and said enjoy the show....I was overwhelmed with not the money being returned but the random act of kindness and honesty... It has restored a bit of faith in mankind to me as Ive lost a lot of that with everything going on......she didnt want any reward, so we bought a few more drinks and tipped well...lol We danced all night to the best R.E.M. trib. (2.45hrs) just killer! and she introduce us to one of the persons who books the bands....who knows maybe our Petty band will get a shot....we've been to many show there...Its always an awesome night...the people there are the best and entertainment is never disappointing....Please support this venues as we are all trying to get back to enjoying life and the music...
Read moreMy wife & I went to hear Twelve Twenty Four. It was a shame because, although the band is talented, it was sabataged by inadequate sound and poor lighting.
The bass was non-existent at first then muddy the rest of the time. But the biggest problem was that the acoustic drums ruined the mix. They were far too loud. So loud they overwhelmed the rest of the band.
There were no stage facing lights. They were all next to or behind the band. They were motorized, rotating during the performance. Someone thought it would be a bright idea to shine them directly in our faces far too often. They were so bright we couldn't see a thing. The band itself was hardly lit at all.
There should have better speaker coverage and stage facing lights. Not sure if that's the venue's fault or the bands. During the sound check someone should have realized there were issues. Otherwise, it's a nice venue, just not for that particular...
Read moreAn absolutely beautiful venue! I was amazed at how much the volunteers and donors in the community have accomplished in restoring this amazing building! Everything - from new carpeting to new chairs to new curtains at the stage to improved lighting and an improved sound system in the theater... And the icing on this great cake? Air conditioning!!! LOL... I recently saw Jeffrey Gaines perform at this wonderful venue... And I must say, it was an incredible show!! But I was also very impressed by the friendliness and kindness of the volunteers at the Opera House who made me feel welcome... The Mauch Chunk Opera House is a beautiful place... And the wonderful people in Jim Thorpe are helping me make that historic site even more beautiful with every day that passes!!! Five stars for this...
