My boyfriends and I wanted to have a date night but didn't know where to go. We were craving Asian so we quickly googled the closest spots and this was the highest-rated one near us. I had also had several positive experiences in the past ordering take-out. The hostess who greeted us was so nice and helped us get a seat even though we didn’t have a reservation. Due to her politeness, we thought our dinner was off to a strong start. However, this would be the highlight of our night.
Our waitress didn’t give us her name but she was generally ok, I noticed she didn’t refill my drink once but she did refill my boyfriend’s sweet tea multiple times. I would say she did the bare minimum, not the worst service I've experienced but certainly not the best. The food however was beyond sub-par.
I ordered the spicy pad Thai and I genuinely don't know what was served to me but it certainly wasn't pad Thai. The rice noodles were extremely overcooked and the noodles were drenched in a peppery sweet chili sauce. More confusingly they included a lemon wedge on the side. My dish was also supposed to have eggs but it was missing. My boyfriend ordered the General Tso’s chicken and it was also cloyingly sweet and both of our dishes lacked any discernible heat.
Ultimately really disappointing considering the high prices of this place. Pinto, Zaap Lai, Tomy Thai, Rainbow Asian, and even Juan Siao are much much better places and at a better price point too. I am so disappointed in this place when I remember it being a lot better in the past. The vibes and atmosphere of the place were nice and the lighting was really pleasing but that and the hostess are really the...
Read moreWe saw the good reviews and were looking forward to trying Cafe 0ne 11. We walked in to a very dimly lit but attractive seating area and there were two other tables of guest there when we arrived. Our server was a fast talker! We had to ask him to repeat himself multiple times. We ordered an appetizer and two lunch entrees. Our entrees came out before the appetizer and we had to remind the server that we had ordered it. We should just cancelled it because we were well into our lunch by the time it came. My sushi was very good and my dining partner enjoyed his chicken and almond stir fry. Both entrees were presented attractively. The appetizer, in addition to being served very late, was not good and we left half of it. We had ordered Vietnamese Summer Rolls with chicken and shrimp. What we got was several hunks of shredded lettuce in rice paper with a barely noticeable amount of chicken and shrimp. The dipping sauce was ok but for $12.00, we expected more than mouthfuls of lettuce and not much more. In the end, we let the server know that we were not happy with the summer rolls or the late arrival and also reported that he had poured water into my partner's Sprite. This is a small thing and yes, an accident. He offered a new glass of Sprite but said nor did anything about the appetizer. These things individually wouldn't have bothered us but when this many things go wrong in a restaurant, it means the difference between trying again sometimes vs never again. For us, we...
Read moreMy two veteran friends and I usually eat at the Hibachi Supreme Buffet when visiting Johnson City, which is great food at a great price. They are closed on Tuesday, so we found this place nearby because we were craving Asian type food. This place was more like a bar for serving alcohol. It wasn't too busy at noon. It appeared to be clean and well decorated. The menus were nice and typical trifold and laminated. We all commented on how pricey everything was. For example, they charge $3.95 for tea or fountain drinks. We all chose items from the lunch menu on the back, and each got a fountain soda or tea. The waitress was nice and did her job very well. The food took about 15 minutes from the time we ordered. It wasn't steaming hot. It was all just barely luke warm. The food was okay at best, and the portion amount was alarmingly small. We all left there hungry and somewhat verbally disappointed. The most disappointing thing was that it cost us $65 plus $9 for the waitress tip. It is what it is. We will go to our regular lunch venue from now on when possible and avoid less value places...
