Stopped in on Saturday, May 25 around 5:30 pm. My husband and 2 teenage boys were with me. Noticed how dead it was for this time of day especially compared to the steakhouse in front of them. Came in was escorted to a table immediately. After we came in, 2 more tables were seated. No more than 20 customers were in the restaurant. We kept waiting for someone to come by and ask us for our drinks. The table behind us was seated after us and the server for that table had made her way there. Took those customer's drink and food order. Still no one came to our table. We noticed the manager or shift leader, whichever one she was, point to our table twice as she was talking to a server. That server walked by and assisted a table of men that were settling their checks. Still no one came to our table. We sat there for 15 minutes getting ignored watching at least 5-6 servers walk by in bikinis still no one waited on us. We finally got up and left. I looked for management to say something to her, but never did see her again. With the amount of customers in the building, there was no reason for us to be sitting there as long as we did with no service. We know these servers saw us but no one spoke to tell us someone would be with us as they walked by just completely ignored us. We were starving and had been at baseball the majority of the day. Was looking forward to having some good wings and watching more baseball on TV. This place was not busy enough for us to be treated this way. I could understand if they were busy, but this was uncalled for. No wonder they were dead. The locals must know more than all us others. The service was horrible. I'm guessing that's why they had their bikinis on was to drum up business because their service is horrible and everyone knows it. Hooter's is not what is use to be at all. This time and the last time I was in one in Knoxville, we had piss poor service. I'm not for sure what their problem was today, but this left a bad taste in my mouth. If the servers are not going to do their jobs, then maybe you should consider hiring new ones especially after reading a few other reviews that had been left within the last few months.. I'm not the only one that sees the problem with this restaurant and its servers. There is a thing called training and I believe all your servers need to go back through it. None of them could do...
Read moreDearly beloved, we are gathered here today to honor the memory of our dear friend, Johnson City Hooters.
I have not been to Hooters in a long time, since my last visit they have remodeled and gone to a closed kitchen. For many years myself and my friend group came here every single week during their wing night, we enjoyed delicious wings at affordable prices, good company and a fun atmosphere. Alas, college graduations come and wing/beer friend groups go.
Passing through today I decided to visit the old favorite and see how things were going. First of all, the remodel is fine but in my opinion it has killed the vibe a bit, the open kitchen and long bar were always fun to watch while waiting for a wing plate refill. The wings are pricey, I paid over $20 for a plate of 15, I don't blame this on the restaurant though, everything is too expensive these days, and honestly I would be happy to pay that occasionally for a quality plate of food.
That's where I had an issue. The wings in their current state are just flat out not good. Overly breaded and too lightly sauced, with the heavy breading often falling off a good portion of the wing, I didn't finish my plate and it wasn't because I was full. In the past I remember large and breaded wings, dripping with sauce. These bad boys come nowhere close. The flavor is still there when you bite into a part of the wing that actually had the good fortune of getting sauced, but overall the wings just aren't good anymore.
I would feel ashamed to only mention the bad so let me shine a light on the positives. The service is fantastic, as it has always been. Our waitress was friendly, swift, and accurate, I did not get her name as I guess they don't write it on the napkins anymore, but she was a bright spot during a dark experience. The food was fresh and hot, even if it wasn't very tasty or good quality.
Overall I really hate to leave a negative review for this particular location because it seems like the issues I had probably come from a corporate level instead of local, the local control of things like service and food freshness was awesome.
As much as it pains me to say it, skip this place and hope as I do that they find their way back to the...
Read moreI hope from the depths of my soul that my experience last night was an aberration. Hooters, and this particular Hooters, has always had a special meaning for me and my friends. We've had several major events there including significant birthday celebrations. Service and food and atmosphere have always been outstanding, and even taken for granted as a consistently wonderful experience. But last night was painful. When we arrived getting seated was a problem even though the crowd was sparse. A group there ahead of us left cursing after waiting too long to be seated. After we sat down, it was at least 20 minutes before a waitress asked if we'd been waited on, even though the waitresses sang happy birthday at the table right next to ours. We ordered our beer and our food together. It was at least 45 minutes into our visit before our beer arrived. After about another 20 minutes, two of the three of us received their food. I told my wife and our friend to get started because I was assured mine was coming immediately. Their food was at best lukewarm. Meanwhile, our friend went to the kitchen window to see what was up. The bartender who was in charge learned of our plight, and she immediately began to rectify the situation. After another 20 minutes and another birthday song, they brought mine, which room temperature except the curly fries, which were soggy and just plain old cold. The bartender, bless her, had the waitress bring our check, which was for a considerable discount. From then on, our waitress checked on us every 2 or 3 minutes. Two hours and 20 minutes after we arrived, we finally were finished. The bartender is to be commended. But for us, it was like the passing of an old friend. The last thing I ever thought I would do is give "our" Hooters a two star review, and if it wasn't for the good graces of the bartender, it would...
