Waffle House — Restaurant in Johnson City

My wife and I had a really poor experience at this location today, and it was really due to our waitress. Her first visit with menus included a long complaint about how she worked 14 hours yesterday. (We were there at about 8am, as I picked up my wife from her overnight shift and I had mentioned how tired she was). She seemed to avoid making eye contact and had a sour expression, apparent even under her mask. When she brought our food, she asked if we needed anything else. I mentioned I had an order of hash browns too (everything else was already brought, so it appeared it was left out). She had a flippant demeanor as if 'of course I'm still going to go get them'. When she dropped them off, they were an overcooked brick, will link picture if I can. So I had to wait to point out that this one was overcooked too, because our waitress disappeared after dropping them off. Eventually she came back out from the back, and I asked her if I could get another one, since these were pretty overcooked. With yet more impatience, she said, "sure." That is literally what she said. No 'oh sorry' 'oh of course', just impatient 'sure'. So a couple minutes later she brings over -another- but every slightly less, burnt hash browns. It was nearly identical to the first one. I said something again, and this time I got one that was about the way I've had them at Waffle Houses all over the place, many dozens of times. Never got an apology, an offer to take it off the bill, nothing. Just flippant, impatient attitude. I mentioned to my wife, that it seemed really odd, because we always have great service and food at Waffle House. She's the one that suggested it must have been my hat. I was wearing my Trump hat. It never even occurred to me that could be it, here in TN. Up north, sure I'd expect vitriol because of pro American political support. But I can say I have never experienced that anywhere in East Tennessee to date. But regardless of reason why, truly lousy service with an attitude is no way to stay in business or get customers...

Normally I love waffle house but to day I was pritty disappointed ... Normally I wouldn't write a bad review either but I manage a restaurant and when I came in there about 1:00 pm today (08/05/19) I sat down and proceeded to place my order with the waitress who is apparently new and I say that because one of the other waitresses who eventually came to my table and redid my order and finally brought me my drinks after 10 to 15 minutes of waiting told me she was new in training but nobody was watching her to make sure she was doing it right or even understanding what she was doing at all anyway when I finally received my food it was mostly right with the exception of a couple of things and I didn't get my drinks before I got my food I got my drinks about 5 minutes after I got my food nobody came by the table except for one time to check on us or to see how everything was or to see if we needed anything and most of the time we were there almost all the staff was in the back room with the exception of one or two people in the waitress who was helping me ended up cooking now I don't know if they were having a problem or would not in the back but none of them really seem to care much with that being said the food was good the service was terrible and the place was clean so it's kind of like a compliment sandwich I just wish that we had been taken care of a bit bitter also with that being said I still love Waffle House and I will still go to Waffle House just maybe...

Katlynne is wonderful, I couldn’t ask for a better waitress. She’s very polite and upbeat. She keeps our drinks filled and checks in to make sure all is good, and always throws in something to laugh about. It doesn’t matter what time I go, whether it’s breakfast, dinner, or 3am adventure, I’m never disappointed. The food is fresh, fast, and hot! Staff greets you with a smile and a “Hello, welcome to Waffle House!” as soon as you walk in the restaurant. They are always upbeat, and this is by far the cleanest Waffle House I’ve ever been in, even right after a rush. Management is also friendly and you can tell staff is happy. Nothing on the menu disappoints. Not gonna lie, I tried iHop, and NEVER AGAIN. If you’re looking for HOT food, out in a timely manner, that actually has flavor, ALWAYS CHOOSE WAFFLE HOUSE NORTH ROAN! Absolutely the best southern breakfast & dinner besides my mommas cooking. 11/10, highly recommend, this place is a daily to me. It’s not a Waffle House, it’s a waffle home ! If you stop by don’t forget to tip your waitress good, they go above and beyond, from setting your table up, running your food & drinks, busting the table, & washing their own dishes….
