Jackson Prime, in Jonesborough, wants to be so good, but before that happens, it needs to take care of the details. My wife and I were celebrating 46 years of marriage and hoping for that special evening; unfortunately, we walked away feeling like it had been missed. First, what is good: the space and ambiance are a winner, it has a really good upscale vibe, without being too pretentious. The staff was friendly and pleasant. The core product, the Prime Ribeye for me, and the Filet for my wife, were very nice and well prepared. Our crispy brussel sprouts appetizer was also delicious, with a fig balsamic glaze, bacon, and goat cheese. So, with all this good stuff, how did the experience fall short? When I first received the wine menu, I complimented the person who put this together. And excitedly order a really cool Orin Swift Abstract, a very nice red blend. After an extended period of time, our waiter informed me that this wine is not available. Okay, then we would like the Quilt Cab. However, another waiter who was called in to search for the wine informs me that Quilt is not available. So, I said I like cabs, or cab-forward blends. What do you recommend in this price range? After several minutes, his recommendation was $30 more expensive, and it is certainly no better than Quilt. So, I selected another Orin Swift wine, a Petite Syrah blend, not what I was after, more expensive, but a really nice wine. Now, during this time of wine search, our Brussels app was served. Unfortunately, we had no appetizer plates, and we waited several minutes for our waiter to emerge from the wine cellar to give us plates. Later in service, we finally received bread, which would have been nice to have had earlier. However, the bread was a weak link in food quality. I compare it to my sister's angel rolls, and there was no comparison. The provided compound butter was good, however. With the entrée as stated, the steaks were excellent, but the issue was again in the details. My wife had her steak Oscar style, which was almost awesome with crab and a yummy béarnaise, but the asparagus served was very tough. I enjoy a good chimichurri, all garlicy, spicy, and with a good acid tang. So, that's what I ordered with my steak. The problem seemed to be that the acid here, such as vinegar or lime juice, was missing, for my expectations - another miss. We received the bill, and it was indeed very pricey, considering the value, service, and food compared to the overall experience, it was another miss. However, we left a good tip; they tried, but there's work to do before Jackson Prime becomes a great restaurant. The potential is there; we’ll give it some time to improve and will try again. I so want...

I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Jackson’s Prime, this place has set a new standard for steakhouses. I ordered the ribeye, and it was without question the best steak I’ve ever had — perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and bursting with flavor.
My wife ordered the trout topped with shrimp, and it was equally top-notch. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented — it matched the quality of my ribeye in every way.
The service was seriously first-class from start to finish. The staff was warm, attentive, and truly made us feel like valued guests. You can tell they’ve put as much thought into hospitality as they have into the food.
The decor is absolutely stunningly beautiful — sophisticated, modern, yet warmly inviting. Every detail has been carefully chosen, creating an atmosphere that is both elegant and comfortable.
And the location couldn’t be better: right in the heart of historic Jonesborough, Tennessee. Between the charm of the town and the luxury of this dining experience, it’s a destination worth traveling for.

Read moreMy wife and I finally had the chance to try out Jackson’s Prime, and we were impressed from the start. The interior has a refined, fine-dining ambiance that feels unique for the area.
We started with the Brussels sprouts, which were decent but didn’t quite wow us. My wife enjoyed a glass of Pinot Noir, while I tried three cocktails — the Capone Old Fashioned (excellent), the Espresso Martini (not my favorite), and a Moscow Mule (very good, though hard to mess up).
For entrées, my wife had the Overmountain Chicken, which she said was fantastic, and I went with Jim’s Filet, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The truffle fries weren’t quite what I expected, but they were still good overall.
Our server, Sonia, was fantastic — very hospitable, attentive, and inviting, which made the experience even better.
The restaurant is a bit pricier than I anticipated, so for us it’ll be more of a special-occasion spot, but the quality of the food, atmosphere, and service made it worthwhile. I’d give it an A- overall.
I’m also a big fan of Troy and his wife — their vision shines through, and I believe Jackson’s Prime is well on its way to becoming one of the region’s premier dining options. For a restaurant that’s just opened, they’re already turning heads, and I expect it will only get...
