One of my favorite places—The Narrows Bar. I am in love. Exposed brick walls, wood floors, hip, industrial style lighting, wood burning fireplace and an elegant cocktail menu; this place is a must visit for the cocktail connoisseur. The juices are fresh squeezed, syrups are made in house and your drink is crafted with Alaskan glacial ice. As a bourbon lover, this is a haven that boasts over 150 whiskeys from around the world. The Narrows is exactly the kind of place you hope to find in a city like Juneau—tucked-away, relaxed, and genuinely focused on great drinks. The bartenders here are friendly, attentive, and seem to enjoy talking about what they’re pouring. On both of our visits, we tried something different and were glad we did—the Falkor and Rattlesnake were standouts, each with their own creative twist but balanced and never overdone. I found an ad for The Narrows in the guest services book at my hotel and was immediately intrigued by their foraged and house-made syrups. Did. Not. Disappoint. I was in town for four days and popped in every evening for two dessert drinks, working my way down the menu. Lisa and Stuart were amazing and made me feel welcome, even when the bar filled up periodically.
