(RESPONSE TO OWNER - Oh, so you matched our “we are having an exceptionally hard and chaotic time with our special needs 3 year old at this moment, but are still being polite and kind, until we were treated like garbage for asking simple questions” energy? Namaste.) ORIGINAL REVIEW - Terrible customer service, which is interesting since I was expecting exceptional service based off the other reviews. Dined on 6/10 around noon and the young girl and gentlemen working the counter were EXTREMELY RUDE and unhelpful!! Being BBQ enthusiasts, the PB&J brisket peaked our interest! My husband inquired about it and the girls reply was “it’s brisket… with I dunno, peanut butter and jelly”. Um, okay. My mother asked about the potatoes, the older gentleman’s reply “they are potatoes”. Are you kidding me, like are they mashed, cheesy… “Can we um, see what they look like if it’s not a big deal… we have picky eaters?” The male worker sighs, walks over to the potato warmer, rolls his eyes and opens the lid. It was so ridiculous, we all started laughing. FINALLY, the young girl rings us up and asks what BBQ sauce we’d like, I replied with “2 original and 1 spicy” and she said “WHY DO YOU NEED THAT MANY!” We got TWO meat plates? Sigh, won’t be back. BBQ was...

We rolled into Kanab on our road trip out West, headin’ toward Zion, when the smell of slow-smoked meat caught our attention. On a hunch, we stopped at Giff’s Barbecue — and boy, are we glad we did.
We ordered up the Cowboy Combo Plate with a side of mac 'n' cheese, cole slaw, a half order of nachos, and a selection of homemade sauces that could make a grown cowboy weep with joy. Every bite of meat — from the melt-in-your-mouth brisket and juicy pulled pork to the fall-off-the-bone ribs and tender smoked chicken — was absolute perfection. You could taste the love and smoke in every forkful.
To top it off, we tried a glass of Giff’s own homemade beer — smooth, well-crafted, and a great match for the meal.
The owner himself was behind the counter — quiet, polite, with the kind of calm presence you’d expect from a seasoned cowboy. No big talk, just good food served with pride.
The place has that honest, no-frills Western charm — just good food, good folks, nothing too fancy — just a big, functional space with tables and chairs — but it’s honest and unpretentious, the kind of spot where the food speaks for itself.
If you're anywhere near Kanab, don’t miss this place. It’s...
Read moreIt pains me to leave anything short of a 5-star review. But I feel like I need to be honest about our experience. First off, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself seemed clean and there was plenty of seating.
Now...to the food 🙁 The brisket was dry as a bone. To the point of being inedible. Zero flavor. I believe it was either oversmoked or it could be that all the meats are in chaffing dishes and they continue to cook and dry out.
The pepper ribs were actually not bad. They fell of the bone. Very moist, good texture. But no bark on them so they ate more like a rib roast.
The Mac and cheese was probably the most disappointing as far as sides. It was mush. Noodles were overcooked. No distinguishable cheese flavor at all. I ate a few bites and couldn't do it.
Others in our party had the chicken and said it was extremely dry. They also had the pulled pork and said it was really good. So if you go here, maybe stick with their pork as it was overall the best.
I just want to leave an honest review so other tourists can be prepared and have realistic expectations. Perhaps it was an off night, but in digging a little deeper on some other reviews, it seems the brisket is...
