I am not a big fan of writing negative reviews, but it is warranted in cases where I feel management has completely missed the mark and lacks empathy when approached directly about the situation.
I visited the D&B Kansas City location on the evening of 6/7/25. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, there was nothing but letdown after letdown. A few of the issues we encountered include:
At the check-in counter, there was a sign for Daddy superhero day on 6/7/25. No one at the counter knew what it was. When we scanned the barcode, it just took us to the D&B event page with no details. A tease for a discount?
The overall cleanliness of the establishment was 1/5. The bathrooms looked like they hadn't been mopped in months, and trash on the ground. At any given time, there were 8+ tables that were not bussed and sat dirty for hours.
When trying to sit down and order dinner, we were told to sit anywhere (since there was no host), and a waitress would help us. We first sat in the room by the bar for over 20 minutes without any acknowledgment. We then moved into the large dining room and found a clean table. We made multiple attempts to get the waiter's attention. They would make eye contact and then walk right by to the kitchen. After 15+ minutes, we finally had a sweet lady from another section give us some water and change the TV to the UFC fight. Another waitress came and finally took our order. When we brought some of the issues to her attention, she said they were understaffed and had no bussers. Zero apologies or a pep in her step for the rest of the night. However, for a Saturday night, I was surprised to see only a handful of tables occupied, so I am not sure how staffing contributed to the lack of attention, acknowledgement, or overall care.
The food was a 2/5 for the price and quality. Fries were supposed to be seasoned and were not. One order of wings came out, and then 15 minutes later, the second one came out. My beer never came, so I had to go to the bar and order it on my own. The waitress still charged me for it so I had to get it removed.
Some of the games were broken, including taking credits away without starting the game or overall functionality working (UFC game, carnival toss game, hand with the puck game, etc). If I could have found someone to help, I would have asked them to fix and/or give me some credits back. This is a huge bummer since we really came for the games (which are quite expensive).
On multiple occasions throughout the night, I passed an office by the front door and saw what looked like a manager working on a computer for hours. As a concerned patron, I decided to step into the office on my way out to share the concerns mentioned above. After sharing a few examples above of dirty tables, lack of help in the restaurant, etc., the manager (Mark) was pretty lackadaisical and lacked empathy about the situation. He said he'd go out and check out the situation (by this time it was way too late). No apologies and a very subtle 'thank you' for letting him know. If they were so understaffed why wasn't he out there bussing tables, helping at the bar, working the floor?
After spending $160+ ($75 for a game card ($86.37 with tax), $65 on food and $10 on a drink) and receiving this type of service, there is no way I'd come back here. If I were in D&B corporate, I'd be ashamed and embarrassed of this establishment and would be doing everything I could to fix these issues (if you read through the other reviews, you can see this is not an isolated incident and why this location has a lower score than others). Hopefully, they will read this and take it seriously; otherwise, I don't see it being around...
Read moreOur group arrived yesterday from CA, VA, Peru & Germany; to attend Copa America Peru vs Canada game today. We decided to have late dinner & at about 10pm arrived at the Dave & Busters location in Kansas City, KS. At first everything was normal. The 1st mishaps was that one of my friend ordered a pina colada & the drink look like a pineapple juice. Then the supposed to be manager her name was “Paloma” came to our table & looked at us with a no friendly face & said “what’s up”. We told her what was wrong, she grabbed the drink, She went to make the Pina colada & send out Trever our waiter(I think that is his name, but was way more efficient, attentive & cordial to us, than the manager) What ruined our 1st night in Kansas City happened next. My friends probably, didn’t communicate well to the manager about that we didn’t appreciate her poor quality of customer service. But instead of apologizing, she made it 10x worse. No Bad language was used by either party, but Paloma the boss & my friends went back & forth for a couple of minutes, but She just wouldn’t back off!!!my friend a female strong lady told her please leave us alone. Then she complicated things even more by her threats, by saying “why don’t you tab out & go”or you know what “I am calling security” & left. We actually laugh. Then after 20 min she walked in with a cute female security officer but never said a word. Her failed attempt to made us be afraid didn’t work. She felt more avenged that she actually Call the cops. YES THE COPS!! Just because we told her that she needed to improved her customer service. So the COPS showed up 20 min later while we were eating our last part of our meal(Paloma the manager already made us stop enjoying our meals that wasn’t all bad). JUST BECAUSE SHE DIDNT LIKE US TO TELL HER THAT SHE NEEDS TO IMPROVE HER CUSTOMER SERVICE. Luckily enough for our waiter Trever. He is new, attentive , he has a cool pony tail. The only reason we gave D&B a 2 star for service was because of Paloma. He told the cops when they walked in that we are his last table & that there are no issues with us(eventhough we had nothing to worry about). The cops told Trever they still needed to speak with her.(Paloma the manager the name she gave us)She came out of her little office & told the cops the same thing & the cops left by saying ok “if you need us call us”. Just to reemphasized the both Paloma & the Cops failed to scare us. The intimidation tactic used by Paloma was useless and unnecessary. Only because She was told in her face she has no customer service at all. I know there is going to be an automated system about how sorry they are about this. But saved your response D & B I will not return to your locations around the states. There are thousands of soccer supporters today that were planning to attend your location after our game. But I will make sure our soccer community don’t go back to your location jeopardizing their fun evening by another episode & look for a after party somewhere else. Lastly, Management is not a position of power or entitlement but a position of Leadership, Service & Respect. Paloma the boss lack all of that. Obviously D&B do not train their employees...
Read moreHello, I am reaching out to share about our poor experience at your Kansas City - Legends Outlet location. We had a reservation at 7:15. We made sure to arrive on time. The hostess told me we’d have to wait 20 minutes. I was slightly annoyed because we had a reservations, but I understood. I know weekends can be busy. 20 minutes goes by and still nothing, I repeatedly checked-in with the hostess and she gave me multiple excuses - no table available, no server to take the table that did become available, and then she told me reservations are not guaranteed and they are on a first come, first serve basis. This made no sense to me. I also watched the hostess slowly bus tables. She’d clear a few items, and then come back and stand at counter before going back and working a little more. Meanwhile, my aunt took the kids to play games while we waited. That was whole different fiasco. She said the girl helping her load money to a card was terribly rude and short with her. My aunt said the kids watched it too and couldn’t understand why someone would act that way. Finally at 7:50, we were sat down. The floor around the table was dirty, and in general the whole restaurant was overrun with messes and people. We proceeded to wait another 15 minutes and finally tracked down a server on our own (I wish I would have asked for her name) she apologized and pointed out another server who she said should have taken our table and she did not understand why she hadn’t. We watched that server, who was supposed to take our table, take the order of a table who sat down after us. It was beyond frustrating. It also caused conflict between our group as we weren’t sure whether to stay or leave. We had kids in our group who were obviously very hungry by this point, and we had very frustrated adults too. The part of the group I was in went ahead and left, and the rest of the group stayed. They said the server, who apologized previously, took their order and rushed their food. As for the hostess and the server who was supposed to take our table, absolutely ridiculous. There was no motivation or work ethic. The experience ruined our whole evening. I definitely will not return to this location, or possibly a Dave and Buster’s in general. We have been to the Overland Park location, and it was not like this experience at all. As for negative reviews, the only time I recall ever reaching out to share my frustrations with a restaurant was to Subway 10+ years ago. If reservations can’t be honored within a short window, DO NOT offer them! I planned to send this through the Dave and Busters website, but I was limited to 500 characters. I plan to call the number listed...
