Lilly's Cantina — Restaurant in Kansas City

Salsa & chips were great, the drink was great & and the food was good but not great, it was just not what I expected. However, I was never once rude to you or your staff, all lies from you!!! We ate, I said thank you every time you or he came to the table, I even left a tip & said thank you & bye as I left. But the fact that you got on my review & lied is a great reason to never come back or recommend your establishment! Also, the bathroom door does not lock & and the paper towel dispenser does not work. The parking lot is in need of a much needed upgrade, as it messed up my car. You might want to work on fixing these issues. If you really want to send me my money back $49.97, you can send it to my Venmo @Moe-Isla. It would be appreciated & thank you. Again, with your lies, I came in. You asked us to pick a seat, and your waiter came with chips, I said ty. You came and took our drink order, we had a conversation & you were actually pleasant. (Idk what happened other than you didn't like my review!) You brought our drinks, and I again said ty. He brought more chips again, I said, ty. He brought our food and I again said thank you. My company dropped his fork, and I asked if we could get another one. The person behind the couter said yes. The waiter brought it & i again said thank you. You came by and asked if we were ok. I had food in my mouth, so I nodded yes. He brought the receipt. We finished & paid. Used the restroom. As we were leaving, you were helping a party of three, recent college grads, you said thanks for coming. I said thank you & left. I left a wordless review, and now I have your lies on my review! ( That is the reason for a word filled review because you lie!) It was almost a pleasant experience despite my disappointment in the actual meal, but your lies ruined any chance of me ever referring your establishment!!! I was Not rude to you or any of your staff! Just admit you didn't like my review & move on! I didn't really believe you would actually refund my money, I knew it was all talk, and you would not back it up! I will not be calling you to argue further with you! There is no point! I am glad I got to try the food and see for myself whether I liked it or not, (Not)! More importantly, I had a chance to see the person who runs the establishment is not a good person & tries to spread lies when she doesn't...

Edit: This page is manipulating their rating in my opinion. After my review suddenly there are five 5 star reviews in the last 24 hours. Last review before me and my friend was a week ago. Two reviews before that was 2 weeks ago. Don’t trust their rating. And no, I am not being sarcastic in my review :)

Service was good. The waiters were very nice. I usually don’t do reviews but I did want to review this with my subjective opinion. To start, I am surprised this restaurant has 4.8 stars - one of the highest rated on the strip of restaurants. I am surprised because the food was not very good. I couldn’t even finish my plate.

The beef taco was the best on the plate - in that it was fine. It’s all downhill from there. The quesadilla (?) had nothing but queso. I expected something more but that’s my fault. The enchilada was the worst I’ve had in a while. It either didn’t have any spices, or had all the wrong amount of spices. It tasted like cinnamon, and was way too sweet? Which is a new one for me. The rice was dry and lacked any flavor. The shredded cheese on my tostada (?) tasted stale. The salsa tasted like canned tomato purée. The hot salsa was not hot and tasted like it was the same as the normal salsa with a few extra peppers.

Again, I am very surprised how this restaurant’s rating is so high and in my subjective opinion: This place is the closest equivalent to Mexican bar-food. And not the good kind. I think it’s only rated high because the margaritas are good and people forget how the food tastes when you’re having a margarita or two. Unfortunately for me I did not have a margarita, and I do not have plans to come back and try.

This was absolutely the worse restaurant I have ever been to. Parking was in the back and you had to walk down dirty stairs past a guy sitting on a chair right next to the entrance smoking. We walked in and the lady working the restaurant was sitting in a recliner looking chair on her phone. She acted like we startled her for even showing up. We went to sit down at our table in the dining area that not only was completely empty on a Saturday night but didn’t even smell like food. I could see in the kitchen and there was no one in there and no food was cooking and didn’t look they had prepared food on there at all that day. Then some teenager wrapped in a blanket (looked like he just got up from a nap) went and got our silverware and brought it to us.

Because of the reviews on the food we decided to stay and try it. That was a Big mistake. The cheese dip was disgusting. It tasted like watered down spinach dip. And the Jesse’s Burrito spread was a soupy mess. With a very soapy tortilla covered in a gross tasting soup like sauce. My son and I couldn’t even eat it. We sent it back and because we didn’t have time to go anywhere else we ordered two tacos. They were bland and not good. The refried beans tasted like old burnt coffee.

I love Mexican food. I love Tex-Amex and Authentic Mexican food. This place didn’t serve either one of those.
