Pawn and Pint is a great place to go enjoy some great games with amazing friends while having a few drinks. And with all that said, it's becoming even more than that. Let's get into a full review and see what more they have to offer.
We'll start with parking, which is more than ample, even on a busy night. There are two large parking lots right across the street. Yes, they say you have to pay to park there, but read the fine print, parking is free for customers of Pawn and Pint. Just make sure you know your vehicles plate number and make sure you validate it once you get inside.
So once inside, you're greeted by the super friendly door greeter. They will check your I.D., note that after 9pm all those under 21 must leave. Show you how to validate your parking, you did remember that license plate number right? Then ask for the $5.00 entry fee or proof of membership, yes it does cost to enter but you now have access to a world of games! If you're under 21 they will give you a complimentary bracelet to wear because you're so darn awesome.
So now that you're inside what to do what to do? We'll the highlight here is playing tabletop games. Certain nights usually highlight specific games like MtG and other games. Some nights might even have a special theme or trivia going on. But what if you dont want to do what all the other cool kids are doing in there? We'll, you dont have to. There's plenty of tables and even a balcony so you can play your own game. What, you didn't bring a game with you? No problem, there are literally hundreds of them on the wall you can borrow while your there.
After you've decided what to do and have some seating be sure to make your way to the bar where you'll find all manner of delicious drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The bartender is awesome and makes a mean cherry Coke from scratch. Prices for drinks is comparable if not a bit cheaper to average bar pricing. As for the staff there, they are all wonderful people that care about their guests and always willing to answer questions.
And this is the start as of this review date. They are beginning a lot of remodeling, which will make the place look more awesome than it already does. There's also rumors of a small kitchen coming where you can get some foods to satisfy that hunger built up with all that game playing. Overall, if you like playing tabletop games and great drinks, you owe it to yourself to give Pawn and Pint a visit. Odds are you'll discover your newest place to enjoy...
Read moreSecond time visiting. Came in on a Wednesday, trivia night. First time was so so. Front desk greeter, both times, were very friendly. Very accommodating. Best part of both nights. First bartender was ok. Nothing to write home about. Second time, bartender, heavy set blond sporting a lavender-dyed bob, with glasses, was very rude! Acted as if we were bothering her when asking for drinks, her damn job! Met my bf and a friend of his, a very polite 60 yr old gentleman there, who doesn't drink very often. He very innocently, inquired about what malts they had available. She answered, very rudely, "when you ask for malts, you're not being very specific!" (hand gestures and all) then proceeded to tell him, Dunken lager can be a considered malt, Tank 7 can be considered a malt, etc..." He ended ordering a bud light, I'm assuming because he had enough of her educating him on what's considered malts. My bf asked for a couple of glasses of water, she placed a couple of plastic cups on the counter and very rudely pointed towards a couple of pre-poured pitchers of ice water already sitting on the bar. Now i should emphasize that we are both, ALWAYS very polite, always with the please and thank yous! Not by any means, rude to her at all. And normally, we wouldn't mind helping ourselves, we've both been in the service industry long enough to know how hard it can be. We both empathize, and routinely, tip very well. But the place was not busy, it was 5 o'clock on a Wednesday evening, the night crowd had not yet made it there. There was literally 5-7 ppl in the joint, and we were the only ones at the bar ordering drinks. Now we'd be more understanding if it were busy. Maybe she was having a bad day, or week, or month, but just the overall communication, or lack thereof, is the reason why I will not be returning. We appreciate good service. And just gonna...
Read moreI’ve been coming here quite a bit. Almost 2 times a week the past few months. I live real close.
First of all, the place is really cool! Great ambiance! Good selection of games from casual to more heavier stuff. I get the $5 entrance charge so I don’t have a problem with it and they close late where you can get some long gaming sessions in if you’re into that. But I have noticed things from this place where it’s left a bad taste in my mouth.
The workers can be very unprofessional. There was an occasion where there was no soap in the men’s bathroom. I let the employee know and no soap was ever provided. I went back up to ask again and no soap was ever provided. This is a board game cafe….where we TOUCH everything. So that was kinda nasty.
On several occasions we’ve had people come up to us while they were high or drunk. Those people were always at the bar usually talking to the employees. Then they come over and bother us. There was one point where I guy was drunk and just bothering us, while we were clearly bothered, the employee came by, saw us, and just went on his merry way.
In all honesty, this place is a mixed bag for me. I love the cool ambiance of the place and it’s a lot cooler than other board game cafes but the workers/experience aren’t up to snuff compared to other places or just in general. I think it’s fair of me to expect soap in restrooms and for the workers not allow drunkards to stay in the facility. So for now, I would recommend Cardboard Corner Cafe if you want to game more regularly but you’ll have a good time here if you only plan to come...
