Pura Vida Açai Café — Restaurant in Kansas City

We discovered Pura Vida KC as a food truck and fell in love. We had bowls like these in Aruba and never thought we would be able to have them here so, needless to say, we were very excited! And even more so when the cafe opened within walking distance of our apartment! I get the Garden Bowl which has granola, chia, hemp berries and a honey drizzle - the combination is amazing. My wife gets the Pura Vida and adds all the berries. Lol the atmosphere is light and airy with our favorite island and reggaeton music playing. They also have amazing coffee from Costa Rica roasted just for them - I grind it at home and put it in the French Press for a rich, delicious cup of coffee. They are pricey so a visit to Pura Vida is a treat for us but...

Wow! The Mango Cheesecake Bowl is deliciously refreshing!!! The best Açaí I have ever had and big bonus, this one is topped with toasted coconut, mini cheesecakes, fresh strawberries, mango coulis, whipped cream, and a mint leaf. Not a mango lover? They have a wonderful variety of flavors to choose from.

The portions are generous and I could have shared, but …. I didn’t 🤷‍♀️. It is always a pleasure meeting the smiles of the people behind the business who are passionate and work hard every day to bring a bit of “Pura Vida” to us!!!

My wife and I first tried Pura Vida from their food truck at First Friday’s in downtown KC. Both the bowls we had were amazing and we’ve been following the truck ever since. When we learned they were opening a physical location we were pumped!

Since Pura Vida has opened we make the trip from downtown at least once a week. The bowls are always awesome and Ethan and Liz (the two owners) are always great to chat with.

I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a healthy treat! Way better...
