This place is absolutely AMAZING!
The ambiance is great. The outside decoration is rather modest. Walking inside, I was pleasantly impressed by what I saw even though I had already been appreciating the photos posted on Facebook. It is traditional Chinese style, with plentiful cultural elements, managed just right so you can enjoy the sophistication of culture while still feeling the peaceful Zen like tea house style dinning place. I have been to many Chinese/Asian restaurants in the US and this is one of the very few that made me feel related and truly proud of my identity.
The food is phenomenal. I have both dined in and ordered takeouts for a couple of times. You can find a good varieties from very authentic northern Chinese food, to Sichuan flavor, and to innovative fusion dishes. The Kung Pao Chicken and Triple Delight are the best I have ever had anywhere in the US, including my over 10 years residency in New York and Los Angeles. The homemade Sour Plum Juice is a sip of heaven in hot Texas summer.
This place has various collections of tea. I am not a tea person, so all I can say is the Chinese traditional tea table looks gorgeous. :) The owner also allows you to bring your own tea to boil at this table. It is like bring your own wine.
The last but not least, smile at the guy in charge please because he is super super friendly, attentive, and seasoned. Feel free to ask him anything about things on the menu and not on the menu. As a passionate owner of a brand new restaurant, he is excited to talk to customers and listen to feedback. His name is William and he is a lot of fun to talk to.
I will definitely go back and try...
Read moreBeijing Ranch has truly become a standout authentic Chinese restaurant in the Katy area. The 40-minute drive from my house is undoubtedly worth it, as the flavors and dishes evoke a sense of nostalgia from my childhood in China.
The cucumber peanut dish is reminiscent of the familiar tastes of my past, evoking cherished memories. The dumplings, crafted in a distinct northeastern style, boast textured skins, generous portions of meat, and a delightful addition of dry shrimp for freshness, resulting in an immensely flavorful and delicious experience. As someone celebrating Chinese New Year away from home, the meal brought back memories of festive celebrations in China.
The sour soup with pork belly and clear noodles was spot-on, capturing the essence of traditional flavors. The impeccable service provided by Emily, the owner, added to the overall experience. Her attention to detail and extensive knowledge enhanced our dining experience. She anticipated our needs before we even expressed them, making the evening seamless and enjoyable.
Despite feeling full, the delectable offerings compelled me to continue savoring the dishes throughout the night. This hidden gem in Katy, discovered through a friend's birthday celebration, has left me feeling blessed to have such an authentic northeastern restaurant in the area. I look forward to returning again and again. Highly recommended. 👏 Greatly...
Read moreAs someone who goes to Bellaire's Chinatown for Chinese food for all my life, this place has the most authentic Chinese in all of Katy right next to 99 Ranch's food court stuff.
What struck my interest was their Mapo Tofu. It is a Szechuan dish and most chinese places around here just spike it with chili oil and put more heat in it. No, this place KNOWS how to make Szechuan food- the seasoning is perfect and the spice is numbing from the fact that they used actual Szechuan pepper corns
Im not an expert on freshness but their noodles are indeed on point and it looks like they have a very interesting supplier. A dish i ordered (i forgot the name) has fried noodles with the sauce on the side to pour on the noodles like gravy. The fried noodles weren't perfectly crunchy but authentically chewy and crunchy. Most noodles restaurants use for the fried noodle dish are initially crunchy before the sauce but these noodles they used were a bit crunchy chewy thick and thin even with the sauce showing balance. Either they make their noodles or they have a very dedicated supplier.
Consider me a long...
