Oh K-Dog — Restaurant in Katy

A novelty experience that I mostly regret. Split a half-half sweet potato / mozzarella dog with my kid. The cashier was helpful and kind. The cooks looked mad 😡- with mean mugging. That should have been my first clue that there was no love ❤️ in the food. (Maybe they’re underpaid and overworked?) Bland with a sweet out-of-place aftertaste even with the help of some sauces. Thick awkward texture with the corn dog part with semi-burnt sweet potato. It seems like the oil is rancid or the frying temp was off. The cheese pull was fun. The “beef” hot dog was worse I’ve ever had - no snap, no flavoring, undercooked, just pale and cheap tasting. Yuck. But the Diet Coke was cold and fine. Okay, update: a couple hours later - both of our stomachs are aching and hurting just makes me question the food safety of the joint. Demoted to 1 star at your own peril and risk. Food is bland and service is bad. I ordered the #12 sweet potato (my son ordered #2) and it doesn’t taste like sweet potato compared to the one from (Sul) Bing Su in Asia Town. The hotdog is so-so also. After trying it, I went back (was sitting on the far side of the food court; busy day 12/21) to get a sauce or ketchup to make it taste better. I asked for a small plastic container and I was told they don’t have it. So, I asked for a cardboard container (where they serve the corn dog) but they will not give me one and the reason is “it is against mall policy”. I asked why and they said they don’t know. Oh K-Dog had some really weird videos playing that showed what seemed to be social media influencers eating the food products with extreme pleasure. It was a little odd. The kids working the counter seemed to fit right in with this aesthetic. They were awkward (like they spend too much time alone on the internet), with me having to repeat questions for answers. It’s Oh-K, I got most of my questions answered. I ordered the Half Dog/Half Cheese food item. It was just ok. It’s like a Korean Corn Dog, with Asian sauces to choose from.
