So bad. Truly awful dining experience. And WAY over-priced.
Stopped here on the way back from Lost Maples, in the hopes of dining on some tasty Seafood. The empty Parking Lot at 6 PM on a Saturday should have been our first clue as to what waited inside.
First...Place is huge...cavernous. Yet when you walk in the door there is no greeter. The waitstaff are roughly 20 yards away in the back of the place and just kind of stare at you when you come in. So we grabbed a table and waited. And waited. Finally a waiter came over (there were less tan 10 other diners) and very curtly took our drink order. We still needed Menu's at this point LOL. Waiter came back with our drinks and I had to ask for menus.
Gumbo is on the appetizer menu only, and is horrible. No real whole seafood in it. Just pieces of shrimp and overcooked crawfish that tasted more like "Seafood Bubblegum".
My wife had "Bayou Rice with Crawfish". In a word it was AWFUL. I'm Cajun. I guess they dug up some Bayou Mud and mixed in Rice and Cheap Chinese Frozen Crawfish. I tasted it and told her I thought it was inedible.
I was wary of what I saw on other plates seafood-wise, so I ordered Ribeye and Shrimp. All I can say is Frozen and thawed. The shrimp were TINY. The steak? Don't make me laugh. Paper thin and overcooked.
We both had beans and cole slaw as sides. Very Cajun...Pinto beans from a can, and oversweetened cabbage is what we got. I mean it. The beans were canned swill.
2 beers. 2 entrees and one bowl of gumbo set us back almost 60 bucks after...
Read moreWe recently got takeout at La Fours. We literally had to throw the entire $140 order away. The gumbo was ok until I realized it had shrimp and the shrimp was what the mush was. The crawfish enchiladas were somewhat edible but so bland and chewy. The crawfish Ă©touffĂ©e was beyond disappointing. The entire thing was mush and the rice ïżŒwas even mushier. Tried to add some spice as it tasted beyond bland but it didnât help. The hush puppies and boudin balls were tolerable but bland and over cooked. My son ate his fried catfish but he said he had never tasted catfish with no spice. I told him not to eat it but he was super hungry and just coated it with sauce. He ended up in the bathroom sick later. The Beignets were way overcooked and rubbery. Then the fried alligator was all rubber. Literally like trying to eat a rubberband! I just couldnât believe how bad everything was. I called to talk to a manager and spoke to an older person. She said she would refund the order. Never said sorry or if something was off that day. I was ok with that and figured if they were refunding the order then there was no need to review. My fiancĂ© went in yesterday and she gave him $60 of the $140. I was fine with them keeping the takeout tip. I called and asked what happened as we ended up throwing it all away. She said she wasnât refunding the items I said were ok. Iâm sorry but we will not be going back. I just couldnât believe how bad everything was! I wish I had...
Read moreI came here because it was voted âthe best sea food restaurant in townâ by the Kerrville Daily Times. Sadly for me and my wife that was not the case. To start the atmosphere.
Looks like itâs has not changed in 35 years ago when they 1st open. You would think with the money they save by not being open from 2-4 they could save some money to buy a soda machine. Donât ask for sweet tea because Iâm guessing there to lazy to add sugar. When my wife order sweet tea. She did not get oh sorry we donât have sweet tea or we only have unsweet. she got this I get asked that 100 times a day speech. All I could think is if a 100 people a day want sweet tea then get them sweet tea!!! It takes two minutes To add sugar to tea. Imagine how much time it take telling 100 people there no sweet tea each day!!
The food we got was cold... the place was not busy so why is my wife shrimp cold and looked freezer burn. My ousterâs I donât even want to say. I changed it for gumbo and that was ok.
The two sea food places in Kerrville are next to each other. (Unless you think long John silver is sea food )You would think competition would push this restaurant to push and keep it on its toes. Making them tribe for seduces but sadly it feels like this âbest sea food in townâ needs itâs fire back I would hate for this 35 year restaurant thatâs been in Kerrville for long to...
