If I could leave this place a 0 star I would. Starting, we order our food. We explained to our waitress that my husband had an allergy to mushrooms just to be on the safe side because we know things could be cooked together sometimes in a busy kitchen. One of our meals was beef with oyster sauce, which on the menu did not state that it was made with mushrooms. When it arrived we told our sever that we couldnāt eat it due to the allergy we had already told her about. Her response was āno take backsā⦠ok so now I have to pay for a dinner that I cannot consume and order a new one, we order the same meal and ask please no mushrooms, due to this allergy. The meal comes out this time, no mushrooms to be seen, so my husband starts eating the meal. Before we even get half way through eating, he is now gasping for air because once again, they did not care about what we told them, and still contaminated his food with mushrooms. After telling them this, our server argued with us telling us we were wrong and it wasnāt cooked with mushrooms so at this point now Iāve paid for 2 meals that could have killed my husband. I would not recommend this place. They clearly donāt have the staff that has the knowledge to understand an allergy can be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was on my vacation in key west and suddenly my CHINESE FOOD mood turned on so I searched on Google map to see if they have any asian restaurants in the town. Literally this is an American Chinese restaurant. I grow up in mainland China and I know how the authentic Chinese food should be. The server simply gave me 1 sheet of paper with Chinese characters on it and I didn't even have any other options of my lunch because there were just very few words on the menu. I asked if they had any other menu, she said "NO" without hesitation. I asked again if they have English menu cuz I thought there might be more choices in English? And then she brought me a whole BOOKLET of the menu. I was unhappy with this already. I ordered a special Lo mein and beef with broccoli, they tasted OK. When I asked for the check I found the server compulsorily charged 15% plus gratuity without asking me. I read the menu carefully and I didn't see any notes of "giving 15% tips is a must". The server brought me the checked and took my credit card, she didn't mention a word of charging tips even I left the restaurant. Now I know the reason why everybody is saying "terrible service" here. Don't recommend, and will not come...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreKey West has some great restaurants and can range in price from cheap to very expensive. Well China Garden West Downtown is a very affordable place to eat. Itās not the fanciest place in town, quite the opposite, with a small dining room and little bar at the front. They also have parking right in front (not a lot) so it makes it easy to go there.
The food was good, we ordered the Chicken Chow Mien and the Goo Goo Gai Pan which were both combinations. Very good, they came with pork fried rice, soup of your choice (we had the egg drop), and a pork spring roll. Before we got our meal they brought out some hot mustard and sweet and sour sauces to go with the crispy chips. Their hot mustard was good because it wasnāt over the top hot. Still cleared out your sinuses but not bad.
The service was great from the moment we walked in. They kept our water filled and checked on us every once in a while.
All and all I would recommend this place if you want a quick, affordable, quiet meal...
