Little Whitehouse Subs — Restaurant in Key West

My friend and I went to Little Whitehouse Subs on Sunday 3/10/24 at 2:30pm. We were disappointed because the sign said they close at 3pm. We decided to come back again the following day to try these sandwiches that we heard were the BEST in Key West. We got there right at noon. We asked about their posted hours and why they were closed early the day before. The owner told us that there was a family emergency. Totally understandable. Boy, were we glad we gave them a second chance because these sandwiches definitely lived up to the hype! I ordered the Balboa and my friend ordered the Indian. The Balboa (love the name) is an Italian sub, but on massive amounts of steroids...this thing is HUGE!! I'm a big dude and was only able to eat half of it. I had it wrapped and took the rest with me. My friend ordered the Indian (think Thanxgiving). It was a hot sub that had everything you'd get at your grandmother's house on Thanxgiving...except greenbean casserole and pecan pie. He said it was Amazing. Well, before we left we ordered to-go orders so we could try what each other had. I ordered an Indian for myself & my friend ordered a Balboa, just to see if we were each correct in our assessments. We Absolutely were! The rest of the menu looked nothing short of Spectacular. There were SO many options for us carnivores and also quite a few vegetarian options as well, which my girlfriend will love. If you ever find yourself in Key West around lunch time and want to try some of the Best subs you'll ever have in your life B-line it straight to Little Whitehouse Subs, just call before you go to make sure they're open. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the 'SPECIAL DAILY CUPCAKE' for those with a bit of a sweet tooth, like me. They have a special homemade cupcake every day. We were there when it happened to be a Banana's Foster cupcake. This was the Best cupcake I've ever had! I looked back at some of there past cupcakes and it looks like you could come here every day for a year and not have the same cupcake,...

My husband and I came to KW for a short getaway and we went on a food tour and our guide Rose recommended The Little Whitehouse Subs made the best Italian sub and sandwiches. We have been on a quest to find a great Italian sub here in Florida since we moved to Florida three years ago from Maryland. Sadly we have been unable to find one, until we stepped into this little sub shop near Mallory Square. We walked in and said we wanted the best Italian sub and they said the Balboa was the one we wanted. While we waited we asked who was the Raven’s Fan (woohoo) and the owner Mike said he was (that’s when we knew this was going to be legit). We talked to him about our quest to find a great one in Florida and he said that was one of the reasons he opened one here was for that exact reason he wanted a great Italian sub. He gets his bread from NJ par baked and then he finish baking it the rest of the way each day here in KW.

Now let me get to the important information you need and want to know. This was absolutely perfect. The bread is a very important component to a great sub. This bread was soft but stilled had a nice chew and it held up to all the beautiful ingredients it almost reminds you of bread made from pizza dough. The ratio of meat to vegetables ratio was perfect. It had Capicola, Genoa salami, pepperoni, ham, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, banana peppers, red pepper relish, mayo, & our house oil & vinegar. The vegetables were all fresh. It was absolutely delicious.

Not only was the sub delicious the staff was great and friendly. The service was quick and the price was very reasonable and worth every bite. Will be stopping the next time we come back.
