The sun beat down on the white stone as I approached. Another Starbucks, another town. But this one wore its corporate shell differently. Palm fronds swayed against blue sky while the sign—stark, white, confident—announced itself without apology.
Inside was cool darkness. A mercy. The baristas moved with practiced efficiency, though their eyes held the vacant stare of those who had asked "Room for cream?" ten thousand times before. I ordered coffee, black. Simple pleasures for simple men.
Outside, a rooster strutted across white stones. He owned the place more than the corporation did. Fifteen minutes only, warned the parking sign. The bird would outlast us all.
Two people sat by the window, hunched over paper cups, having the kind of conversation that happens in these places. Important enough to meet, not important enough for real china. The woman's sandals hung from her feet, toes testing freedom.
The merchandise wall displayed its colorful tumblers and mugs like trophies from conquered villages. Metal and plastic sentinels arranged by hue. I resisted their siren call. A man needs only one good vessel for coffee.
The refrigerator hummed, filled with bright cans and bottles. Sugar wrapped in health claims and promises. I drank my coffee and watched a man in a light hoodie check his phone while waiting to order. His troubles were not my troubles.
When the coffee was gone, I left. The rooster remained, pecking at invisible seeds between the stones. The palm trees still swayed. The umbrellas still cast their green shadows. The world had not changed, but the caffeine had done its work.
Yes, it was just another Starbucks in paradise. Familiar and strange. Like all good stops on a...
Read moreIf I could give them no starts I would. I dont know why I have given this location so many chances. Every single time I've been there they continuously get my order wrong and all I order is a caramel mocha. (How do you always forget caramel in a caramel mocha.) Today however was the last straw. When going through the drive through which takes at least 10-15 minutes, as I went through I was told rudely next time pull up when we tell you to. I usually go to the La Concha location which might I add is apart of a hotel and not a true starbucks. However they are amazing, and when I walk in they already know my order and NEVER get it wrong. And youre not paying 5+ dollars for the wrong drink. (I will no longer betray them by going to the Roosevelt location.) Coffee can really make or break a persons day and the Roosevelt location has messed up my day for the last time. I know this post may have sounded petty but I have given them many chances and am over it. Also this is my first time ever writing a review period because I just couldn't take...
Read moreI was at this location yesterday, Saturday 8/21 around 10:20am. There were only 3 people in front of me. It should of be fast and easy experience. I waited 25 minutes for my order to be finished - and I did not get what I ordered (and 3 people before me didn’t receive their correct order either :( I ordered Honey Oatmilk Latte…I asked if I can have it on ice….the girl at the counter told me that it IS a cold drink served on ice (well it shouldn’t be by the description on their menu)….and yet i received HOT oatmilk - no coffee in it at all!!!!!!! When I asked where is the espresso she told me that I ordered Honey Oatmilk Latte and that is what I am getting. I left the store without my drink and without my money….I will never go back there again. There is another location here in KW but I am hesitant to go there as well. And BTW Honey Oatmilk Latte was not my first choice, I asked for Cold Brew - but they did not have it, I asked for Almond milk and they did...
