Sadly, the Manteo NC McDonald's has went from being the best one on the Outer Banks, to the worse.. as a local I've attempted to give it more than a few chances to get it right.. my last drive thru visit usually was still a under 95 grade,and I think I saw the last grade in the 80s for cleanliness .. I know points are subtracted for more than a clean store.. but there is no one in the restaurant, so why such filth. My last visit was with a young woman who spoke little English' and seemed confused and angry that I pointed out a issue, but I did it with upmost respect & friendliness.. I didn't get that in return, 2 vehicles before me had pulled out & left after we had sat there for ( I timed it.. 30mins) and when I got to the window, the nice young woman who I initially spoke to was on her way out with her meal, and the foreign server did not appear to know what I was saying and was hostile. After 30mins to just get to window, I paid, and I have that receipt as proof, Im not exaggerating.. it took another 25mins. 5 mins from a hour wait to get my order, this after much confusion, trying to explain the 2 orders before me had driven out of the parking lot, (wish I had..) the young woman at window finally handed me a not my ordered large tea, but a medium paper cup size, the hamburger I requested only pickles & ketchup was ...Burnt, literally black, with a bun that had seen better days, the meal, *2 double cheeseburger large size meal, was burnt even worse, and mine & both double cheeseburgers were cold, really unappetizing to look at,the 'Large Fries' I paid for was half-filled and they were, the only thing.. not hot but warm, but was still missing half the box.. I never, never complain, but after paying over $12 dollars I did ask the foreign server to look at all the burgers, burnt, cold a smear of ketchup and stale buns, told her I didn't want issues, but after waiting a hour to receive fast food I expected it to be right? So asked if she'd ask manager to redo at least the 2 double cheeseburgers, didn't complain about my burnt burger, or the missing fries, the watered down soda, just to replace the 2 double cheeseburgers fresh, after another 15 minutes, I received my burgers, drove forward, for by then there was at least 10cars behind me waiting as well.. I opened the 2 cheeseburgers and joke on me. .. they now were singles, and still burnt, and actually looked like the burgers were flipped over, and put back on the stale reheated buns.. well, I wanted a treat after avoiding restaurant's, and I only overpaid for food not received, disgusting, and knew the only McDonald's on the Outer Bank's was now a " No Go "as well.. to bad. (which by the way, the burgers eat by my son made him sick within 45mins of eating.. and that was a all night sick in the bathroom til 9 in morning. What a shame, for yes, times have changed, but if customer service can NOT be offered, close the doors, and spare those like myself with 3 artificial heart valves, and young people who may be partial to low immune systems that makes food poisoning harder on the body. Yes, there is a couple great workers who I know are trying there best, but my bragging days of this McDonald's are over. Sickness & bad service isn't worth the trouble. Close down before you really put a customer in the hospital, or make one so angry they flip out on a employee.. so folks, you in a hurry, eat the bad food, with horrible food rating, or try another place.. unless stomachach's as well as you having money to throw away, is no issue to you.. but locals " be warned from one native local to you.. until they do what they should, I'd avoid at all cost. .. hope I can change this post at a different time.. til then, employees smile, do your best, offer good service and when the unknowing vacationers are gone, maybe you can win the local customers back, or hey"..dont want to take kind opinions,then maybe you need to shut down, eventually those who give you your permits to serve this way will do the shutting down, I'm hoping...
Read more2023 Update: Haven’t been to this McDonalds in three years and shouldn’t have gone back today but, how could they still have staff unable to operate two lanes right? I was wrong, they still have no idea they have two lanes of traffic. So you have one lane of orders completely being ignored and the problem is, you can’t get out of the line if no one in front o you does anything or moves. I had to watch at least five people that got there after me be able to go around us while I was stuck on the side being ignored. Then of course, no apology or any attempt to even make right their incompetence. This spot needs to be reviewed by corporate for their consistent problems, rude staff, and complete lack of professionalism and total lack of competence overall.
2020: Probably the worst McDonald's I have been to. They have 2 drive thru windows but do not know how to work them. We were ignored for a solid ten minutes while orders at the other window were taken. We finally left and went inside. The staff was not responsive...I highly question their intelligence levels. The poor manager was doing the best he could to remedy the situation but he has little to work with so he could only do so much. I hope they re-vamp the entire help staff and find new people because this McDonald's can barely function in its...
Read moreBad employees, worse management. LAZY AND SLOW. Prime example why fast food workers don't deserve $15 an hour. Line was bout 10 deep, but only 1 cashier, 2-3 people working drive thru and 2 pushing food out. Full staff making food so half the time they were chilling, then when they got a few orders they were still slow as hell. Management should have helped the cashier spot but i could tell they were likinh their chill spot pushing a bag or tray out every few minutes. Even had time to text on their phones, talk, joke around. All while the cashier was getting smoked. Then with about 12 or 13 customers in line, the cashier TELLS the manager she is going on break. You don't take a break in the middle of a rush even if it is your time, you get the rush out, then leave. Then the manager starts taking orders, while i was in the middle of ordering the manager thought it was acceptable to shout across the dining room at an employee to ask said employee a question. Really? Horrible. Lazy. Slow. Not very Smart. Glad i didn't get food, just got sweet tea. Oh i also saw an employee scratch his head in front of a manager.....with gloves on. Hahaha, this...
