I decided to try this restaurant with a group carryout order. One member of my party is vegetarian, and so I ordered the fried green beans, which was the only vegetarian dish on the menu that was currently available. I later got a voicemail from the restaurant saying they were unable to make the green beans. I tried calling the restaurant back but nobody answered.
I showed up at the restaurant at the stated pickup time and waited in line to speak to the host to pick up the order. There were 1 to 3 front-of-house staff members standing directly in front of me while I was first in line to talk with them, but they would not help me for almost 15 minutes, while they assisted dine-in parties and stood there discussing which tables were still eating and which were just chatting. I was worried the food would be cold before I ever got to ask for it.
Eventually when everyone else in front and behind me in line had been helped, they finally acknowledged my existence and asked what I needed. I said I was picking up an order, but they said there were no orders ready for pickup. I mentioned I tried to call them back about an issue but nobody picked up, and they said they'd have to get someone else from the back to help. Eventually a fourth staff member came and explained they could not make the green beans, and asked what I would like instead. I stated that one member of the party was vegetarian and asked them if they could make any vegetarian dish for him, and she said no, they were unable to make any vegetarian dish on the menu. So that member of my party was not able to eat. The staff member was very polite and did offer a drink on the house for the inconvenience. I finally received the rest of the food I ordered nearly 30 minutes after the stated pick-up time. I never received any email confirmation that the part of my order for the green beans would be refunded.
Scoring criteria: Minus 1 star for not being able to make my order as placed Minus 1 star for not being able to accommodate a vegetarian diner at all and making him go hungry Minus 1 star for 3 staff members ignoring me for 15 minutes while I was first in line Plus 1 star for giving me a drink on the house
The spicy pork wonton was excellent, and bursting with flavor. I look forward to returning and giving this place...
Read moreIt was a beautiful summer day in the neighborhood, a perfect day to take a walk to downtown Kirkland for lunch. Dumplings sounds like the perfect choice so we stepped in without any reservation. We had to wait a while before being greeted. They were very short handed, with only 2 person on wait staff. One busy taking order from a large party, another busy filling drink order. 2 other parties waiting before us gave up and left. 😕 Once seated, everything moved a lot smoother. We ordered the signature juicy pork dumplings Xiao Lung Bao, green beans, shrimp and pork wonton soup, and beef roll. The pork dumplings are super juicy, even more than those at Din Tai Fung. Wontons are generous in portion and fresh, served in a flavorful broth and noodles. Strings beans are similar to DTFs but has carrots and mush, which i liked. The beef roll was surprisingly great! We've had them at Dough Zone and traditional beef rolls are made with thin flat bread. Supreme's version was made with rice paper. It's a lot lighter and crispier than the traditional version. It may not be as filling if you are looking for something more substantial. We found it just right since we had pork dumplings and string beans. Even though their menu isn't as large as DTF, it has a great variety of authentic dishes. Their fried pork chop and fried rice was some of our favorite take out items. This location in Kirkland is a lot less hectic than the Bellevue location, and also more walkable being so close to the lake. Its modern decoration is also more tranquil. It is a great...
Read moreI am a big dumpling fan. Never met a ravioli I haven't liked. Love them no matter the country of origin. There used to be a dumpling place near Costco that rose above the rest of the Asian dumplings we have tried. Seattle (Frou frou, but not delicious) Bellevue (lovely toppings, but expensive and odd-flavored) Kirkland Park Place (long waits, shoved in corners, delicious first time, esp. the sandwiches, but meh the times following). Supreme Dumplings Kirkland is SUPREME. Their spicy noodles are a flavor sensation. Meat, peanuts, onion-- stuff that you mix in. A little zest, but nothing burning or flavor-hiding. We have tried several of their Xio long bao (soup dumplings) Addictive. My fave is the crab and pork, and I could eat them every day of the week. Moist, flavorful. I add two strands of ginger. The spicy Xio long bao is too fiery for me, though delicious. One of our party adored them. Pan fried bread dumplings are my son's fave. We all love the pan fried bao. Chicken with taro? Unique and flavorful. The green beans? I never knew veggies could taste so good. The rice is child and gluten free friendly. For dessert, we have tried the charcoal custard one. Beautiful, but not my thing. Sesame one with peanut is super tasty. We have been several times in the past months and we love it every time. Super nice people too. Try the Japanese...
