This is the third Golden Corral I have been to in Florida, so the rating reflects how I feel this location compares to the other Golden Corrals, plus other restaurants that I've been to.
All in all, it was a good experience. We went in very hungry and left very sated!
Variety of food- there were not as many food choices in this location as I've seen in other Golden Corrals up in Jacksonville. I would estimate that there was maybe only 2/3 of the food choices here as in the other locations I've been to. That said, I preferred the food choices that were available here. Almost everything I saw was something I wanted to have. That made me want to eat way too much, but it's a compliment really 🙂
Quality of food- I thought the quality was a little inconsistent, but mostly good. Most foods were hot, which is not always the case at buffets. However, not everything was cooked well. For instance, I thought the meatloaf was dried out and cold and I did not want to eat it, which was sad because the meatloaf was my favorite thing at the other locations. Their meatloaf recipe is very good! I LOVED the pot roast at the other locations, but it was also overly dry.
I was excited to find all my favorite elements of a true thanksgiving dinner here, even though it was February. Turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes casserole, and cranberry sauce. I couldn't find turkey gravy, but I didn't look that hard or ask anyone, so I may have missed it.
Recommendation- if you are like me and like all the foods you will find here, I recommend that you circle the choices before you start putting food on your plate. I made the mistake of starting on one end and piling things up too quickly so that when I got to the other end where my favorite foods turned out to be, like the turkey, I already had too much food on my plate for my own good. It didn't stop me, but it should have lol.
The server/attendant was very long in coming around to ask if we needed any help. We were pretty much on our way out before we had our first encounter with him. I'm not sure if this is usual, but he was interacting with the other tables nearby so it was a little weird. The moral is, if you want coffee or a new fork, you would need to flag him down. Edited: my husband and I just compared reviews and I have just learned that our server DID indeed come over while I was away from the table. And he was very nice to him and so I must take back what I said about him. I'm sorry! I'm changing my rating on the service!
One last thing is that the cleanliness and shine was definitely missing from this location. I've noticed in other Golden Corrals that they don't clean their doors or inside the vestibule well, if at all. This place definitely needed a deep clean, as it felt a little dirty. It looked worn down, which is fine, but I was not liking how some of the equipment looked, such as the ice cream machine. It just looked like it might have some rusty parts inside. It probably didn't, but it just looked like it might because of how old it looked. The machine was super slow too. I gave up getting ice cream because the line was about 10 deep.
The dinner price was about $20, so if you are eat like a bird, this might now be a value. But it's a great place if you have picky eaters or need a place to suit a variety of...
Read moreI was in Kissimmee for a week with family. We go to Golden Corral, once, maybe twice a year when travelling in the US.
I bought gift cards at Sam's club to use at the restaurant since you save a few dollars that way. When I presented them the cashier told me they'd been having problems with gift cards and he hoped they would go through. (Not my problem, or so I thought.)
He swiped a couple of times and then told me they wouldn't go through. I told him that this was our only visit and that's how I intended to pay.
He got the manager (I didn't get her name) and she appeared to swipe them as well before telling me they didn't work. I repeated that that was how I intended to pay. She suggested I try another location.
Surprised that she would so easily dismiss five customers standing in front of her, I suggested that we call the number on the gift card to ensure that they were valid and then she could run them through their machine tomorrow or whenever their system worked. "No, I can't do that" was her answer.
I then suggested that I could pay now with a credit card and then I would return tomorrow and if the gift card swiper worked then, they could run them through and give me a refund on my credit card. "No, I can't do that" was her answer again. She then repeated that we should just go to another location.
Wow. I can't say I've had many experiences where a manager won't make ANY kind of effort to assist, particularly when the problem was on their end. I thought I was going above and beyond from my perspective when I offered to pay, then return at the cost of my own time and effort for a refund when the gift card process was operating. Even that wasn't enough.
I'm not sure what more I could have done on my end.
We ended up driving to another location because we didn't want to go home with $100 gift cards to sit on for another year.
I filled out some comments on the Golden Corral website almost two weeks ago and still have not...
Read moreSpecial Review for Golden Corral Buffet & Grill
We visited Golden Corral Buffet & Grill on New Year’s Eve around 4 PM, and while the food was what you’d expect from a buffet during the holidays, the experience was elevated significantly by the exceptional service provided by Monica.
Monica was the standout of our visit—her attentiveness, warm demeanor, and genuine care for her guests were evident from the moment we walked in. She went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, checking on us regularly and creating a welcoming environment that made the meal enjoyable despite my usual reservations about buffet dining.
During our time there, I witnessed Monica handle a particularly difficult customer with remarkable grace. The female guest, who was unnecessarily rude and confrontational, seemed intent on creating a scene. Monica, however, maintained her composure, responding with professionalism and kindness that not only diffused the situation but also showed her true character. It was clear to us that Monica was not at fault in any way, and her ability to rise above the negativity was commendable.
We were visiting due to a family matter across the street at Advent Hospital, and we decided to take the grandchildren for a quick meal. While the buffet was fine, it was Monica’s outstanding hospitality that made the experience memorable. Her positive energy and dedication to her work were a shining example of excellent customer service.
Golden Corral, you’ve made an excellent hire in Monica. I hope she receives the recognition she truly deserves. Thank you, Monica, for making our visit special—you are a credit to your team and a wonderful person to encounter.
Wishing you a fantastic and profitable New Year, Monica. May all your dreams and...
