The new McDonalds is a Kafkaesque horror and an indictment of our techno-bureaucratic future. Upon entering this store through its over-sized front door, I had to immediately jaunt left to go through a second door. They have placed their two entry doors off center from each-other; this should have been my first indication that my presence was unwelcome.
Immediately I was faced with an over-sized screen advertising their food specials. Engaging with it, each item I added to my order prompted additional up-selling which had to be dismissed manually before I could continue. Once my order was complete I had to search for the small text, almost hidden, indicating that I wanted to pay. Of course clicking this was followed with one final insult; more advertisement that I had to dismiss. The screen then instructed me to find a table and "scan the QR code". Each table had a QR code but none were near me and now a line was forming behind me. After running over to a table and scanning the code I noticed that there were ALSO table-ornaments with QR codes and I realized that these were the intended target. I entered the ornament number manually and, so close to the end, the machine notified me that payments were broken and I had to pay at the front register.
(It is worth noting that while I was navigating this order process, no less than 3 food delivery drivers had walked inside and picked up their waiting orders. They were part of the system: victims? Perpetrators? The lines are still blurry.)
But where is the front register?! What was once a view of the restaurant's workings is gone. They seem to be hiding both their processes and their workers from public view and I can only imagine what implications that may have for health and sanitation. The front of the store is a stark white tiled alcove with little signage, a single small register, a counter with no features, and a narrow hall allowing view of a small portion of the large food prep area. I approached this "void" with my receipt in hand and saw two workers, both drenched in sweat from serving the fast paced drive through. One looked at me, looked away, and disappeared into the invisible depths of the food prep area. The other looked at me and raised an eyebrow as if to say, "I see you, and I want to help you, but I can't". I do not know the incentive structures used to coerce these people into working so hard, but I speculate that they are tracked as closely as am Amazon warehouse runner.
I placed my receipt on the undersized counter and, speaking loudly due to the distance, I informed the worker that they need not fill my incomplete order. I navigated out of the hostile doorway and looked up at the sun; brighter and more vivid that I last recalled. Breathing deeply the fresh air, I resolved to never eat at any member of this establishment again. Food, no matter how delicious and affordable, is an inadequate compensation for the abandonment of...
Read moreThis might be a bit long, but so is the list of what's wrong with this place. Also, I really really hate this place and want to vent.
It's not open 24 hours; despite what their web page says. Also, despite Google now listing them as being open 4am to 12pm it's pretty much a crap shoot as to whether or not they are open if you go anytime after 9pm. Now, I've spoken to staff who explained that they switched from being a 24 hour place because they can't keep the place staffed.
The staff is just awful. These kids obviously don't care about their jobs. Their uniforms are dirty (if they happen to be wearing them,) most sit in front of the doors smoking so you get to walk through a wall of 2nd hand smoke to even get in the place. They are rude, walk away when you're talking to them, and couldn't care less about any issue you might have.
The management is worse. I've personally witnessed a manager screaming obscenities and calling an employee retarded in front of customers. Maybe this is why they have staffing issues and the employees that do put up with the management don't care.
The whole place is filthy. It's pretty apparent that once they open in the morning, nothing will be cleaned until they close. I've never been in there and seen the floors clean or booths clean or even the kitchen without spills and trash on the floor.
Your order will be wrong. Let me repeat that... your order will be wrong. I'm not saying that you order a big mac without lettuce and you get a sandwich with lettuce wrong. I'm saying you order a sausage egg mcmuffin and you get home to realize they gave you an english muffin with a piece of ham. No egg, no sausage, no cheese. That's how wrong. A sausage egg mcmuffin has FOUR ingredients and they forgot two and screwed up one. The ONLY thing they got right was the muffin. How can someone be that incompetent?
Okay, so the staff clearly don't care about their own hygiene. or cleaning, or being nice, or making food correctly, so it's no surprise that...
This is not a review. This is a warning. DO NOT EAT HERE. You will be treated like crap, listen to management verbally harass employees and customers, and sit in a dumpster to enjoy whatever random "food" they decided to give you that will most likely...
Read moreReview of Lafayette Co McDonald’s During my recent visit to the McDonald’s at [specific location], I encountered several issues that made the experience less than satisfactory. Customer Service: Communication was challenging as some employees seemed to have difficulty understanding English, which led to confusion with my order. This language barrier can be frustrating for customers who expect clear and efficient service. Order Accuracy: When I received my order, it was missing several items, including sauces, a drink, and napkins. Ensuring that orders are complete and accurate is fundamental to customer satisfaction, and this oversight was disappointing. Restaurant Layout and Accessibility: The layout of the restaurant, particularly the drive-thru focus and the presence of a large wall, seemed to hinder effective customer service. It was difficult to get the attention of staff from the front, requiring me to walk to the back to address my concerns. Cleanliness: The cleanliness of the dining area was below standard. All tables were dirty, and I had to request a rag to clean a table myself. Maintaining a clean environment is crucial for any dining establishment and reflects on the overall management of the location. Overall Experience: This particular McDonald’s seems to prioritize quantity over quality, which affects both service and customer satisfaction. Improvements in communication, order accuracy, and cleanliness could significantly enhance the...
