Tango — Restaurant in Laguna Beach

I truly would like to give this place less than 5 stars but I know how much damage that causes to small businesses so I will not be doing that. I do feel the need to let other Laguna locals know that this is not a place to go eat, at least not yet (I think they're still sort of developing the menu testing things out which I understand) but we went there for a birthday celebration and ended up having to go eat at a different restaurant. There was a menu listed online that looked wonderful but when we got there it was a choice between empanadas or paella and that was literally it. We ordered the paella which was cold and mediocre, one of the guests even said directly to the server that the portion size seems extremely small for $27. The drinks were stellar and the ambiance is lovely. Our server was sweet but seemed to be having a bit of a night because she kept apologizing and was absolutely all over the place Also, I had put that it was a birthday celebration in the notes of our reservation but there was zero acknowledgement from the restaurant. Next level food, cocktails, ambiance, and staff come together to create an incredible establishment known as "Tango Laguna"! My partner and I have been coming here since moving to the area in 2024, but the recent enhancements have reinvented what we already thought were great.. into AMAZING. This is a MUST visit for anyone looking for something unique and extraordinary in the best beach city ever. 🏖️

Special props to Joey for making us feel like family. Nikko (sp?) and Matt provide some of the best service you'll ever receive, and the bartender is a master mixologist (loved both of the tequila drinks on the menu - pictured). We also visited on a bonus night with live performance by @karinanuvosoul and @yussiwenger, who notched the ambience up another level. Incredible musical artists! 💃
