Details. Matter so much in dining. It wasn’t a BAD experience, but it wasn’t a good experience. Kids are the toughest to please and 3 of 3 said they wouldn’t be back. I would give one more shot.
Sunday. Early afternoon. The gold mine of dining. Opportunity to build a brunch menu with elevated prices. And CERTAINLY have the dinner menu out with the full price items. … for our visit- an extremely limited lunch menu, when I asked for a dinner menu, not available. I’m shocked. So we order from the lunch menu. The two other tables next to us both also asked for a dinner menu.
I’m quite surprised a restaurant would not install a water filter. A high quality one. This is Brazos Water Authority… known for bad water. I couldn’t drink the glass of water. It tasted muddy like it was right out of the river.
After we’ve ordered, we find out there are appetizers available… just not on the menu.
The kids cheeseburgers were requested dry, they both came with ketchup. Now two of the three won’t eat. The fried shrimp platter was frozen, pre-package shrimp. Or at least appeared to be. The macho burger was okay. I ordered all three burgers medium well, and mine especially had a cold pink/red center. In a burger, I would have preferred the error to be over cooked. The fries were crunchy and seasoned well.
Our bill… had the dinner price for the fried shrimp basket. $4.00 more than any item on the limited lunch menu.
I’ll give another shot at it. Hopefully we hit gold next time. The server wasn’t bad, just new. And made a good effort.
If the proprietor is reading- the details matter, and we’re missed in almost every aspect...
Read moreOur first time visiting this evening, we went to walk in the front door and it was locked. Hostess and another employee just stood there and watched us struggle to open the door and we were just standing out there confused for a couple seconds. Someone on their way out finally opens the door and we go in, and we ask the hostess "Are y'all closed?" and the hostess says "yes". We look around at each other confused (clearly the restaurant was open) and I said, "why was the door locked?" and she said the door "gets stuck sometimes." Why did they just stand there and watch us struggle to open the door and a customer had to let us in?
Our waitress was either very new to working in general, or she just didn't want to be there at all. Our orders were not complicated in the slightest---for example, we wanted flour tortillas but we were brought corn, and we asked for a side of queso and were brought a side of avocado instead (???) Everything was overpriced and not very good...Crawfish was $10/lb (minimum order is 3 lbs and still $10/lb) and it was very bland.
They offer a military discount, but the waitress did not inform us that it's only applicable to ONE meal per person per valid ID. She just took the check and brought it back and we had to ask why the discount was only 1% off the total. That was when the manager told us the rules for military discounts.
It was such a bad experience overall, that on our way out, we told the waitress "now we know why your door is locked" and she laughed, but not in a joking way.
We won't be going back and we're really...
Read moreMy husband and I showed up yesterday (around noon) with a ton of other people only to be asked if we were with "noe"? To which we said no, then we were told we weren't allowed to patron until 4 (this, after being shooed away the day before and told they actually open "tomorrow".. obviously not exactly accurate). Okay, fine, new place, they're going to have hiccups. As we, and a few others were walking away, this guy with a shaved head and a Jimmy Joe's polo, a manager we assumed, shouted out of his moving car that if we were to go in now then we wouldn't get what we came for... Okay, still no biggie. Today, my family wanting to celebrate my birthday decided to get Jimmy Joe's, order over the phone and bring it home to have our little party. We spent a good 20 minutes figuring out food (from a photo my husband took of the menu days before for this very reason). First, looking at the menu, it didn't say sides come with burgers, my husband calls and the girl answering phones tells him they're extra. Weird okay. Whatever. We take a bit more time to figure out sides and finally call to place the order ...they aren't doing to-go orders until NEXT MONTH... Clearly this place was not meant to open yet. It seems as if they had a deadline they weren't prepared for. Sincerely disappointed and over it. The food sounded great, maybe I'll update this review once we are able to physically get in there or until they get their ducks in a row with To-Go...For now I'm bummed out, and...
