Columbia Kettle Works 2nd Gear Taproom — Restaurant in Lancaster

I have always supported kettle works and loved the atmosphere, however, I recently had a very bad experience there. Obviously, we’re still in a pandemic so I would expect that the mask rules be followed and enforced at bars and restaurants. I understand that people don’t have to wear them at tables, but should have them on when walking around, etc. I went up to the counter to order more drinks and an older man did not have his mask on while ordering. I asked him to put his mask on(as the counter is a communal area) and he replied, “I can’t drink my beer with a mask on.” I asked the bartender to enforce the rule and he said, “oh, he’s a regular, he doesn’t have COVID.” I was clearly upset and was brushed off. Great place to meet up with friends. Patio is first come, first serve (have to go inside to order drinks). Must have a seat for every person in your group.* No time limits and its bring your own food. There is a restaurant facing the street attached to here that you can order from and they'll give you a number to display on your table and run the food to your table for you!

Dogs are allowed on the patio since they do not have a kitchen! Super friendly staff who are eager to give recommendations to those who ask or are unsure of what to order.

We just left 2nd Gear after a phenomenal experience. We went as a final stop in an evening of bar hoping for my husband's birthday. Not only were the drinks and dessert super tasty, the atmosphere was fun and laid back and the service was excellent. After another patron disturbed us several times throughout our evening, without us even saying anything, they more than made up for her behavior and even joked around with us about the experience.
