Alexsandra's Caribbean Restaurant — Restaurant in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea

Visiting from Va and wanted some authentic Jamaican food, specifically oxtails. Decided to try here and was not disappointed at all. Because of other reviews I decided to call ahead and was told 15mins. Not knowing the area, I did pass it a few times trying to figure out where to turn, but once I got there, my order was ready and waiting. Appearance of the restaurant not appealing, however the food was very tasteful and the young lady at the counter was very polite. Oxtails were tender, but a little on the small side. Rice and peas cooked to perfection. Im use to having cabbage with my oxtails, instead I got a lil side salad placed in the same container and it wilted before I made it bk to my hotel. We drove for over 45 minutes to find this restaurant. They say they open at 11:30. Got there at 11:43 and the door was locked. The sign posted on the door confirmed that they should be open, but a young man opened the door to tell me that they would be opening at 12 pm today. I went back to our van to let everyone know. I went back to the door at around 11:56 to be greeted by who I assume is the owner. She open the door and tells me that they would not be opening until 12:30 due to a large catering order. We asked her to please refer is to another restaurant since we are from out of town. She told us that she couldn't think of anywhere. Not opening at stated time and not making arrangements to accommodate other customers is so unprofessional! Luckily we found another restaurant...

Delicious! I was passing by after a run and saw the flag. Had to check it out. I was greeted by a kind cashier who helped me decide on the large portion of jerk chicken (it was between the jerk & oxtail).

When I came back to pick up my meal; the cook was there to greet me. You can really feel the authenticity. She opened my to-go box to ensure the meal was to my liking. She also got me an extra sauce on the side. The large jerk chicken plate came with about 1/2 a chicken, a salad, and rice & peas.the chicken was so flavorful, the rice and peas were exactly what I needed. The salad for me Was the appropriate portion, as I prioritize the protein. They overdelivered.

Would highly recommend for an authentic, homemade meal....
