Jan's Homemade Candies — Restaurant in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea

I’m at a loss for words when thinking of our experience. Simply saying AMAZING doesn’t seem to do this business justice. Jan and her husband were SO friendly and welcoming to our family. The plethora of treats is outstanding. There is something for everyone! Including sugar free options. We got so many things to try! Milk chocolate Snookies, salted Carmel Snookies, 2 types of fudge, peppermint chocolate patties, caramel cashew clusters. And a few more I just can’t remember right now. The samples are a wonderful option, and will absolutely entice you to purchase! Jan was attentive to our 3 year old son and treated him almost as if she were his grandma, offering chocolates to him and just all around so sweet. We talked with them for some time about their business and what brought them to Florida. My husband and I own a business and we quickly decided to support this business in our own way from Ohio! As so many of our local homemade candy makers and chocolatiers have been vanishing, I was delighted to find Jan's Homemade Candies. Just the chocolate assortments are amazing with everything from Cherry Cordials to Black Bear Paws. For myself, I purchased some Lemon and other creams and was totally delighted with their rich in taste and creamy smooth texture. While there, Jan, who is one of the nicest people you'll ever get to meet, invited me to try some complimentary samples. As I had never heard of such, I tried her dark chili chocolate which had the best tangy, zesty chili after taste but in no way overwhelming. So, if you too would like to try something out of the ordinary in chocolate, try it yourself.

Besides the chocolates, Jan's also has a wide range of varying truffles, even a Key Lime.

Then, Jan's also carries fudges and specialty items such as Hot 'N Spicy and those with themes for birthdays, baby, or wedding events, etc.

This little shop is a local legend. We heard about it from a close friend, and we were not disappointed. You'll find every flavor that you can imagine, and Jan, the lovely person who runs the shop and crafts the candies, goes out of her way to make your experience excellent.

Each of our children chose different flavored gourmet chocolate: banana, mango, coconut, peach, taramasu, blueberry, raspberry, dutch chocolate... I lost track of how many gourmet combinations, but if you can imagine it, it's probably there.

On top of that was a variety of fudges, lolly pops, and all kinds of delightful treats. We even found homemade marzipan - we had literally searched for weeks to find that back home, and it wasn't until Jan's that we found it.
