Own a house up the street. When we come to Lava this has always been the place to come get ice cream. Never again. Not only was it outrageously expensive but the customer service was terrible. The 2 employees kept saying “if it’s going to be like this I am going to put my notice in. Or I quit” not very professional to say things like that for out of towners. I asked for 2 scoops of playdough ice cream they were struggling to get it out. The gentleman that was helping us was having a hard time so he went to the back and asked Matt who was just sitting there on his phone to come out and help him. Everyone was wearing gloves he didn’t put any on while getting my ice cream. I asked the gentleman before me if he could ask him to put gloves and just put the ice cream he was already putting in my cone into a new one because I’m a germ a phob and I know they were struggling to get the ice cream out so it’s not like I was asking for much I don’t know what you were doing in the back plus when you’re handling peoples food you need to be wearing gloves. The guy said hey Matt and with a snarky attitude he said yeah I heard. They still charged me for 2 scoops of ice cream even though it was 1 then charged my mother almost $17 for not even a scoop of ice cream with some bananas on it. Very poor customer service and outrageously over charged. Won’t be coming here anymore will be checking out the new gelato place a...
Read moreOverpriced ice (square?) cream. It's Farrs Ice cream, not something specially whipped up at the shop. One "scoop" was $2.59. The "scoop" is really just a 2" square mold they wet, and shove into the ice cream bucket. The square is the placed on top of the cone. It was so wet, it leaves water in the ice cream, and tastes freezer burned because you're eating chunks of actual ice. While deciding on favors, I saw several buckets with what looked like ice in them, but I couldn't figure out why there would be ice. Now I know. The employees were nice enough. The shop was cute. It's convenient they were open until 11pm on a Sunday. My wife got the kids size for $1.99, and probably got more ice cream, since hers was actually scooped like every other ice cream parlor I've ever been to in my life. Waste of $13.xx for five cones. I provided a photo of my underwhelming ice cream with the "sample size" spoon for reference. Lava Hot Springs is definitely on the "do again" list. Unfortunately Sweet...
Read moreFun little ice cream shop serving popular square ice cream cones. The ice cream is good, but nothing amazing. The serving method is a little more unique, which makes it a bit of a novelty I guess, but overall it's good, not great. We showed up this spring to find a pretty long line. Our group of 9 expected to wait a while before getting our ice cream. Surprisingly, they were extremely fast and efficient at getting us all in and out very quickly; impressed at the speed at which they helped our group, despite the crowds. Service was about as friendly as you'd expect from some high school kids working a summer job. Overall, this is a place we've come to in the past, and one we'll continue to visit, not because it's incredible, but it's simply become part of our Lava Hot Springs routine and it's a nice way to cool off...
