Army truck picks you up- super bumpy 15-20 minute ride- only some get seating and you're squeezed in together.
Main owner- it took a bit for him to grow on us. To be honest at first we thought he was kind of a jerk (made a couple teens in our group do push-ups that couldn't keep up in putting the harness on- putting it on was stressful for me as well as I didn't know what I was doing either; and just seemed to have a pretty abrasive personality), but he has a funny sense of humor that grows on you and we really liked him at the end.
Zipline- amazing! The staff are so incredibly nice. You go down 2 times on the first one (a little slower and easier stopping) and 2 times on the next one (faster and longer one and a bit more abrupt on the stopping). Would have loved to had the option to go down more times.
Ninja course- as someone who is scared of heights this was way more terrifying. Even the lowest level was super hard for me. It would be so much better to have an option of skipping the ninja course and just doing more ziplining.
TIPS- Don't bring a hat- two of our peoples hats flew off on the army truck drive. And you don't need it you're wearing a helmet. Put on sunscreen before you go. We forgot and got fried. Don't wear super short shorts- the harness will hurt your legs. Wear sweats (if it's not summer) or athletic long shorts or capris. Bring a jacket if you do the morning 9:00AM one (yes, even in summer which is when we went). It's cold on the drive with all the wind and was a little chilly until the sun came out. You can bring water- they also have a spigot with fresh water running. You can bring a backpack with snacks or supplies or whatever you need. There's a small area with tables to leave stuff while you go on the courses. There's a porta potty but I'd recommend going beforehand as the whole thing was fast paced and going from one thing to the next. Wear good hiking shoes. There is a small hike up the side of the mountain/hill to get to both Ziplines (second one higher and harder than the first, but still doable and I'm not very in shape). You can bring your phone on the zipline to record (don't drop it!). The ninja course not so much. I took it with me and took pictures before I got harnessed in and then put it in my pocket cause you need both hands.
Overall I'd recommend this place! Me and my 2 friends had...

When we first called to make a reservation, we were the only couple, and they didn’t know if there would be enough people to offer the Zip Line adventure. It was pre-season, and we knew that this could happen. However, a few days later, they called us back to let us know that there were enough people, and we booked the Zip Line & Rope Course.
In Lava Hot Springs, they showed up in a giant Army truck to pick everyone up. There were a couple of single parents with kids, a few young-ish adults and us (50-something).
Every activity was explained very well before we started. The staff were super nice to everyone, and we were told that we’re all one big adventure family for the day. Everyone was kind and respectful, which is not something you can take for granted anymore.
There were two zip lines, and everyone got to go twice. As first-timers, we were just absolutely thrilled with the experience.
Next, we had the option to do the ninja obstacle course on multiple levels. If you’ve ever watched any obstacle course shows on TV, you get the idea. We walked on ropes, balanced on narrow beams and climbed up and down to get through all kinds of obstacles.
Just to make sure: safety was the main concern of the staff (followed closely by “having fun”), and everyone learned how to get around safely.
And then they fired up a monster contraption that raised a platform about 60 feet above ground. This was a bonus bungee jump activity for those who were interested, they said. Absolutely everyone did it, and by this time, it was absolutely clear that these guys just wanted everyone to have fun.
We did a few more things, but I don’t want to give it all away. All I can say is that we got more than our money’s worth. And we’ll...
Read moreBefore I booked this adventure I read all the reviews and reviewed the website. The reviews give you a time frame for when the person posted the review so you don’t get all the facts. I’m sure had I knew all the facts, I wouldn’t have booked. I booked this for my family for the last weekend in March, the site stated they were open year round rain or shine. Some reviews state there are trails you follow up a hill to get to the zip lines, I thought since they’re open year round they would give you more information for winter zip lining and I thought the trails were maintained… they say wear a hiking shoe… WEAR SNOWSHOES… we hiked hills in 2 feet of snow and had soaking wet feet just to get to the safety and equipment building which made us miserable, not to mention I’m disabled and couldn’t hike the snow hill for the first zip line so I was unable to participate, the second zip line was on a hill without snow so I was able to participate but I didn’t realize the end of the second one would have me back in snow and I had to hike down a snow hill which left my entire body wet from falling. They don’t mention there are no bathrooms either, we were told we’d have to use a bush, I’m not saying that I’m not ok with that but I want you to have the facts for winter. I was unimpressed with the safety, you put your own harness on with their instructions and they glance at everyone to make sure they look right which again can be fine for some people, all I know is a little girl was on the giant obstacle course forever high and her harness fell off!!!!
Now I’m sure this is an amazing summer adventure but I regret...
