A lot of the previous reviews for this place are positive, but I saw nor tasted any such thing. Maybe they let themselves go since the previous positive reviews. So, the first part of this review is not about the food, but the service, the second part is about the food. And they're both terrible, I would give this place no stars if I could. The staff were pretty shady here. My boyfriend and I came in and ordered food. I really needed to use the restroom, but the lady who worked there told me it was occupied. A few minutes later I asked again and she said it was being cleaned. (Customers have to walk through the kitchen to access the bathroom which is why I asked first) I few minutes later I asked again when it appeared as if the man cleaning the restroom had put away the mop. The woman behind the counter at that point told me that the bathroom was out of order... Okay I understand when places say that to people that just want to use the facilities without any purchases, but obviously we had just bought food. So then when confronted about what the other server had said, that server backpedaled and said, in a shaky voice, 'oh we're not sure if it works ... uh, we're trying to check it out.' Which I think it might not be legal to not have an accessible restroom ( I know that you are legally required in other states but not sure about Kansas). You might want to do something about that Po'boys. It makes no sense, how was the bathroom occupied when we first entered the store if it's out of order? So are you telling me all the chefs and restaurant workers have no facilities and, have to go squat in the back of the restaurant? I'm pretty sure they just didn't want to let me use the restroom. Yeah I'm pretty ticked that they spent time lying after we paid for their services when all I wanted to do was pee. Maybe they should have told me their restroom didn't work from the get-go so I didn't spend the last half hour pacing around badly having to pee. Food. So I left and used the public libraries restroom. We ate our food to-go at the library . Which was not good. My boyfriend is from Louisiana so he knows southern food and there was nothing Southern about the food. There were no Cajun spices whatsoever in the sandwich, it was actually kind of bland. I had tomato basil soup on special, which was actually grainy as if they didn't really mix the ingredients. Also bland. We also had bread pudding, which was too sweet. Now I really like sweet food, but even this had me choke was so sweet. Needless to say, I will not be going here again, and I recommend no one else waste their time or money unless this place can get their...
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised.
My wife and I are very big on Cajun. (Mainly my fault)
I had the chance of being in town and wanted to take advantage of Terrebonne being open. I was impressed. Although I took my food to go I wish to compliment the establishment on their Atmosphere and décor! Clean, organized, and stylish Terrebonne has a very friendly and inviting atmosphere. I enjoyed the eclectic and subtly meticulous selection of art which riddles the walls. I wanted emphasize the counter side serving it was refreshing to see the genuine interactions between staff and clients.
Now most importantly the food. The Nashville sandwich could've been a bit spicier but I exaggerate that a bit cause I really like hot. In all, delicious creamy, full, and silky coleslaw married to a masterfully fried and selected cutlet. Great choice of fresh items and bun.
Jumbalaya had a delish stock seated with perfectly produced shrimp, rice, and andouille. Simple, true to form and very happy. gumbo perfect accompanied with hush puppies. Wish I had more to say but its hard when things are done so right.
Fully staffed, full front of house and kitchen team. They must be doing something right. This is a tough moniker to hold in todays industry. Staff afforded conscious recommendations while keeping in mind the changing needs of the client. Food delivered on pace and accurately.
I wanna try that Cajun Cuban hmmm..
Cajun in Kansas? yea.. it's a...
Read moreWhat a great place! This was a definite surprise. Traveling across country and choosing a place only by the menu and reviews is not always easy. The Catfish Po'Boy was delicious as was the 'cup' of gumbo. The spice level on the gumbo was spot on - a little spicy for my friend but not inedible for her and just enough for me to appreciate the flavor. The sandwich was great. The bread soft and the catfish cooked to perfection - crispy but not overcooked. Sadly, I left two bites of my sandwich and no room for dessert. You won't go away hungry.
The service was great. Very knowledgeable about the menu and willing to share their favorite dishes and why. I ordered one of the flavored iced teas which was delicious but way to sweet for me. She recommended adding plain Iced Tea to cut it. She took care of it and it was perfect. Several staff checked in with us during our meal.
This is not a quiet intimate place. It's small but relaxed with high energy. The decor is highly entertaining as well. Get there early if you go for dinner. We got there around 6 and only had 2 people ahead of us in line. As we were eating, the place filled up (decent amount of seating) and people were waiting outside. Although it 's not a quiet place I definitely recommend eating inside. Kinda like a crowded cafeteria with separate tables and so many great things on display to look at while...
