This review has to do with Franchise information not the Nielsen's Custard Product. For those of you interested in wanting to get involved with this franchise this is a helpful read! There is very little information on the franchise so I hope most of you find this helpful. I have been a loyal Nielsen's Customer in Las Vegas for 8 years and I currently run 3 successful businesses on my own and I have relocated to a new area and I was interested in possibly opening a Nielsen's in my new location as there isn't any custard stores within a 150 mile radius. I have been trying to get in contact with the franchise office for about 2 weeks. I did not get any returned calls or emails so I started contacting other Nielsen's Franchise business owners in other locations and they told me to get in contact with Dave Nielsen. The Nielsen's franchise owner Howard in Las Vegas was the most helpful and he did give me a heads up that there wasn't much support from the franchise and that it would be hard to get a hold of people but as a business owner and one that thrives for the best customer experience I was determined to get information so I can learn more about the Nielsen's franchise and their opportunities. I was given the number to the North Main Street Utah location and the manager Marge answered the phone and she was short, straightforward and said I would not get in contact with Dave or anyone else at anytime as no one is available and that I needed to call an 800 number which I confirmed the number with her before hanging up and the number was not a working number. I called the Utah location back and left a message for Marge asking for additional contact information and if they aren't interested in expanding their brand that they could simply let me know and I'd stop trying or I would still continue to contact the Utah location until I was able to get in touch with the right person. She called me back and was extremely rude and said that's all I have for you. I replied that there has to be someone else or a different contact number. That can't be the only information that you have, a non-working 800 number. I also mentioned that it's a courtesy to possibly take down someone's information that inquires about the franchise and or perhaps pass it along to management or maybe you could try to get answers and call the person back and let them know the status. She didn't like that answer and became very flustered and abruptly hung up on me. Clearly Marge is very unhappy and doesn't like her job or the brand that she works for. Nielsen's if you want to grow and expand don't have Marge pick up your phones or be in front of your customers. She is the back of the house type of gal. If you want to expand the franchise get a team member who loves your brand and will get answers to interested entrepreneurs like myself. If you are done expanding, let the staff and people like Marge know that you aren't expanding at this time. My customer experience has now been tarnished by one unhappy employee and her negativity. This energy will spread to others within the organization and your customers and create a very unpleasant environment for all. I will end this review, with that the custards are delicious! Hence the reason for the inquiry about franchising but I will not invest in unhappy individuals like Marge which her attitude most likely stems from direction from the Nielsen's...
Read moreNielsen's has the absolute best frozen custard. If I am in the mood for ice cream or a shake, I want Nielsen's above all else. I've been coming to Nielsen's my whole life primarily in Bountiful, but also here and the location in St George. I love it, my family loves it. The frozen custard is 5 stars easily.
However, DO NOT order food from here. DON'T DO IT. Nielsen's absolutely needs to eliminate it off their menu. It's way too much for the teenagers working here to figure out. We were here on Wednesday night after my daughter's 6th grade advancement program and she chose this place for dinner. I can't even type out all the ways it went wrong but I'll give a few details below if you care to read it.
We ordered 3 chicken tender combos and 2 corn dogs with 2 fries to go with it. We had to ask literally 4 different times for the rest of our order. I spoke with each employee working that night at one time or another, and we still left one order of fries short. Every single employee was so nice and polite, nothing against them personally.
But they can't steam a hot dog after 5 pm, and they can't listen to you while you order. I said 3 chicken strip combos twice and the guy taking the order asked what dipping sauce. I said "Let's do ranch on all three." He says: "Oh, ranch for all 3?" and I said yes. Then I pay, look at my receipt, and it was 2 orders that he charged me for. So I order another one from another employee and pay for that.
Then when he brings the food, he asks what we're missing, and I say three orders of fries. He disappears, and no fries show up. So I ask the two at the counter and the girl apologizes kindly, and the guy politely says they must've dropped the ball but will get us the fries. Nothing comes. Then my wife goes up to order ice cream and asks for our fries again and they say they must've gave them to someone else. Then a while later a girl shows up with one order. MAYBE one and a half orders of fries.
I appreciate the service industry and never want to be rude to them, but when prices keep going up and service quality keeps going down, companies need to do everything they possibly can to make the experience worth it...
Read moreMy 1st visit did not disappoint. I ordered my chocolate custard with snickers and pecans. It was so creamy and thick.. .. .. just the way I like my frozen treats. I went with my husband and two other couples. We arrived about 8:15 on a Saturday night. I think we got there in between crowds. Watching the customers walk in, families with birthdays to celebrate, others just enjoying their time spent together, it was clear to me that frozen custard was a treat for ALL ages. I know Nielsen's also makes French fries, but I was so focused on all the add-ins I could put in my custard that I didn't pay attention to anything else on the menu board. I know they make fries because a member of our group ordered some. A bit pricey for the size you get when ordering the "Concrete " ... translation...super creamy, thick, firm frozen custard in vanilla or chocolate with stuff you can add-in (for an additional price of abt $0.99 per add-in, if I remember correctly). The first add-in is included in the price. My husband and I spent about $12 between us. We both had a Concrete with 2 add ins. It's not the price so much as the size of the cup that can surprise you. Not meaning to make waves here but, if you are imagining say an ummm treat from somewhere like, oh I don't know, the "Ibg, for instance, you'll need to readjust that image in your head ⬇️⬇️. Yes, it is smaller. By how many ounces I cannot say. The bright 🌞 side is .. .. you're gonna love it, you're gonna want to take your mother-in-law there. (maybe she'll buy!) Your gonna wanna take some home (quarts & pints avail).. .. .. and, you're gonna wanna go back again and again and...
