I'll try to keep this short but please read! So 1 of the managers at this chili's is a long time friend who, knowing we dont eat out too much as we have 6 kids and that gets pricey, offered to have my wife and I go as his guests to try it out and see if maybe we would bring the kids back as a group or both of our families together. Where to start....our server was Beth and she was FANTASTIC!!! She knew we were guests of 1 of the managers but I noticed that she treated all of her customers the same we received no preferential treatment she is just a great server/waitress, wonderful personality and very attentive. As our drinks were getting low we didnt need to ask because she would keep an eye as she went back and forth serving others. Same for the food between the appetizers and main meal then to dessert she waited until it was the appropriate time to stop over. It was a wonderful experience. On to the food. I ordered the ribeye meal and my wife the sirloin. Both come with loaded mashed potatoes and broccoli. Both were cooked as we asked, the sirloin was a bit more tender than the ribeye but both were extremely flavorful and juicy. The potatoes and broccoli was also exceptionally flavorful. I ordered a side of fries that were cooked to perfection as well. Back up a bit our appetizers were boneless wings in bbq sauce and southwestern egg rolls. Now the wings were great. As a matter of personal taste preference, the standard bbq sauce is a more vinegar based which makes it really tangy rather than a sweet spicy type of flavor which we learned later is what the house sauce is more like so, a little advice based on your personal palette there but it was still great. The southwestern egg rolls though were out of this world! SO tasty, I enjoy the spice from the green and red chilis and the black beans they use are cooked right. Sometimes you can get some that are hard or you can "taste the skin" as it were but these were prepared properly and I actually had to stop myself from eating more so I would be able to enjoy my entree! They are THAT good!! They have a rather extensive menu with a wide selection, I am interested in trying a few other things as we will most likely eat there when the opportunity arises (we live in Claremont so a trip to west Lebanon is in order to go). Ww had the molten chocolate cake for dessert. My wife had to leave the table and it was brought (they have an individual or a share size) while she was gone and by the time she got back I had half of it gone. It was MARVELOUS!! I nearly ordered one to go! Speaking of to go, if you cant or dont want to finish your food you can ask for a to go carton to save your leftovers which we did and brought it home. My wife reheated it all in the oven and it lasted less than 5 minutes with our children. They devoured it. The one surprise that I wouldnt really classify as good or bad is the drink menu- while chili's along with similar types of restaurants are known for their alcoholic drink menus which they have a good selection (we dont partake) the non-alcoholic selection is down to some different types of tea hot or cold, coffee and soda. It keeps it simple enough although I think an addition of milk/chocolate milk or juice would be welcome. However nearly everyone likes soda (its coke products) and most like tea. My wife ordered the...BlackBerry sweet iced tea which for me not being a tea person even I enjoyed drinking some of it. Overall it was a fantastic experience with great food and a calm relaxing atmosphere. They do get busy (we got there right before noon and by 1230 there was a short wait) so I'd recommend going early, going during the in between hours like an early 4PM dinner or make a reservation if you can (I'm not sure if they offer that) but there is good reason for the wait and in my opinion worth it. It is slightly pricey however for the quality and flavorful food you get as well as the portion sizes, I personally think its properly priced. We will most definitely...
Read moreChilis is what it is. Don’t expect anymore. Or, you’ll end up w less.
Honestly, I drove by this building at least twice a day for a year and a half before discovering it was even open. It gives the sense of “boarded up” to me. After two years working down the street, I tried it out today. Bummer.
I had a cup of potato soup. Not a bad flavor, but it had a really pasty texture, like the thickener just didn’t have enough time on the stove. Maybe it will be better tomorrow.
The Mushroom Swiss burger was OK. I knew it wouldn’t be great when the server didn’t ask about doneness. I expected Medium then. But, as you can see in the pic, it was the poorly named Well Done. Ugh. If your lawyers demand you over-cook your ground beef, you probably just shouldn’t serve it. Or, at least try to talk us out of it.
The French Fries were cooked properly, but then got doused with cumin - the armpit of household spices.
The iced tea was delicious, and the only reason for...
Read moreA Truly Serene Experience with Serenity at Chili’s
If you’ve ever wondered what happens when you combine flawless customer service with genuine human kindness (and just a sprinkle of comedic timing), the answer is: Serenity, the waitress at Chili’s, White River Junction.
From the moment she greeted our table, it was clear this wasn’t going to be your average chain-restaurant experience. She has that rare ability to make you feel like a guest in her home rather than a customer on a ticket.
But what really sets Serenity apart is her personality. She’s kind without being forced, funny without trying too hard, and professional without losing her humanity. Case in point: in the middle of a perfectly ordinary exchange, she casually used the word “doo-doo” and I had no idea how to respond so I just smiled awkwardly..
Every Chili’s should have a Serenity. Until then, if you’re lucky enough to dine where she works, ask for...
