My family and I stopped in on a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon. It was around 1 p.m. and there were plenty of tables available. We were seated quickly, and our server, ”O” greeted us within a minute. We weren’t quite ready to order and I asked her to come back.
For reference: we ordered cheesy garlic bread and jalapeño poppers as an appetizer. One large pizza and one kids meal.
The cheesy garlic bread was neither garlic”y” or cheesy. It had a little flavor and came with a side of spaghetti sauce. It just had some DRY (no melty cheese or cheese pull) broiled cheese on top that surprisingly lacked flavor.
The jalapeño poppers were probably the best thing we ordered out of our entire meal. They had plenty of cream cheese and bacon on them.
The pizza. We ordered “the Luau”, which claimed to have country ham, roasted onions, and pineapple. When I tell you that this pizza was completely devoid of a single flavor - there was absolutely no flavor whatsoever. Not in the onions, not in the canned pineapple, not in the ham, not in the sauce. My husband looked at me and said, have I lost my taste buds? No one came/stopped to check if we needed anything. One of my children went to the front to ask for some parmesan and we were given a to go container of Parmesan. We then found some garlic powder and oregano on another table. We had to add garlic powder, salt, pepper, oregano, red pepper flakes and parmesan to try to get any type of flavor to enhance the pizza.
The kids meal: we ordered simple butter noodles with parmesan and fruit. We were given a bowl of wet noodles (void of any butter), no parmesan, and again with absolutely zero flavor. My children will eat butter noodles, anytime and any place and the one bowl of noodles was essentially only halfway empty when we left. The fruit cup was just chopped pineapple; the same canned pineapple on our pizza.
There was an air condition vent directly above our table blowing cold air on us. When “O” brought our drinks, we asked if the air condition was on and she said it must be from the outside window. It was blowing from directly above our heads from a vent, consistently. We were all freezing the entire meal, which made the experience even more uncomfortable (no one could take their coats off).
Our server never checked on us or returned during our meal. We sat there with our children, our plates: empty and stacked up, hoping to make eye contact so that we could get our check and leave. We watched our server take an order, walk around our table, go get other drinks, etc., until she finally came to see if we needed a box. We never ever tip less than 20%, but we found it hard to even tip over 10% when she essentially just took our order and then brought us our check and felt like she purposely ignored us.
Extremely disappointed in the lack of service, when it was not a busy day, and there were plenty of staff available. The lack of flavor of our meal was the most shocking. We have been to this establishment at least 10 times in 15 years (we aren’t local) and we always thought the food...
Read moreI’ve been meaning to leave a review about this place for a few months now. Here’s what happened; myself, my wife and child went to dinner here around Thanksgiving, I believe it was a Friday or Saturday night, the place was pretty busy... we got on the wait list and were told by the hostess our wait would be at least 35 minutes. No problem, we walked around the boardwalk, enjoyed a beer from a close by brewery and got a text message about 15 minutes later letting us know our table was ready. Perfect! We were seated immediately...second table from the right as soon as we entered the front door. As we were ordering drinks, a party of 4, two middle aged women and two middle aged men arrived and were seated at the first booth on the right as soon as you walk in the front door....so, right behind is. From the moment they sat down, it was clear they were hammered and had even brought in their own booze. After the front of house manager came over and kindly told them they were not allowed to have their own alcohol, they became quiet upset. The manager took their contraband beers and left. After we listened to them bad-mouth the restaurant and it’s entire staff for the next few moments, the manager came back over to them and nicely asked them to leave. One of the gentleman stood up and began yelling at the restaurant manager, who was only doing his job, while the rest of the drunken party sluggishly gathered their belongings and slithered out of the booth. Upon their exit, one of the men decided to throw his full glass of ice and water onto a table full of takeout pizzas. The 4 of them made a big scene and the whole restaurant was watching. I think the manager and his staff handled this incident with great confidence and professionalism. This is a reflection on how well the restaurant staff at Fireworks Pizza works as a team to maintain a safe, comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere for their customers. We are new to the area and had only been here a couple of times and were very surprised to see this happen but equally surprised to see how well the wait staff and management team handled the whole situation. Way to go guys!...
Read moreJust had to tell you about this amazing pizza I tried - it's basically the perfect mashup of a taco and a pizza! The crust has this awesome wood-fired char that gives it that authentic pizzeria taste, and they've loaded it up with all the best taco toppings. The seasoned meat is super flavorful, and they don't skimp on the fresh stuff - there's crispy lettuce and juicy tomatoes scattered all over. The best part might be those zigzags of creamy sour cream on top that tie everything together.
What's really cool is how they've managed to make two totally different foods work so well together. The crust is thin and crispy like a good New York slice, but then it's got all these Mexican flavors going on that make it totally unique. It's like they took the best parts of Taco Tuesday and pizza night and created something even better.
If you're tired of the same old pepperoni pizza, you've got to give this a try. It's definitely not your average pizza, but that's what makes it so awesome!
