Overpriced and Underwhelming Food, Saved by Excellent Service.
My recent visit to gvino win bar left me with a strong impression of being wildly overpriced for what you get. While the ambiance was quite nice and the wine was good, the food was simply bland and unremarkable. I've honestly had charcuterie boards just as good, if not better, from much cheaper places.
For two of us, we ordered four small glasses of wine, a charcuterie board, bread basket, and a burrata. The charcuterie board was weird, with a lot of meat, a tiny bit of cheese, a few olives, and some walnuts. The burrata was similarly uninspired, served with only about six cherry tomatoes and a tiny piece of basil.
The total, including tip, came to around $160. To put that in perspective, I've enjoyed full dinners for two at truly excellent restaurants in D.C. for the same price, or even less. We didn't even get to a main course here!
Despite the disappointing food and shocking prices, the service was truly exceptional. Our waiter, a kind young man from Italy, was incredibly attentive and friendly. The owner was also very present and made a point to ensure we had a pleasant experience, which we did, thanks to their efforts.
So, while the service and atmosphere were positive, the mediocre, overpriced food makes it hard to recommend gvino win bar for a meal. If you're looking for a cozy spot with good service and don't mind spending a fortune on appetizers, it might be for you. But if you're seeking good value or memorable food, you'll likely be...
Read moreA Truly Exceptional Dining Experience! Dining at Gvino last night was an absolute delight, and I can confidently say it's one of the best culinary experiences I've had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable. We got pre-dinner drinks with mixologists expert Justin. He was knowledgeable and friendly, sharing knowledge of great gins. For dinner we were served by Marius. He was attentive, knowledgeable about wine pairings, and genuinely friendly. The wine list is impressive and thoughtfully curated, offering a fantastic selection to complement any dish. We opted for a Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon recommended by our server, and it was the perfect pairing for our meal. The food – truly outstanding. Each dish was visually appealing and offered great flavor. For our main courses, I had the short ribs with asparagus which fell right off the bone. My wife got the dry aged pork chop, also a winner. The canolis for dessert were sweet, crunchy, and fresh. The ambiance of Gvino also adds to its charm, creating a sophisticated yet comfortable setting. It's the kind of place where you can relax and enjoy good wine, conversation and food. If you're looking for an unforgettable local dining experience with exceptional food, an impressive wine selection, and top-notch service, I would recommend. Giacomo the owner brings a world class dining experience. I'm already looking forward to...
Read moreWanted to take a minute to say how Awesome Gvino is and how lucky we are to have a small slice of Italy in our town to enjoy !! I met the owner, Giacomo, a few years ago when he was just opening the store. He is such a nice guy, always willing to help answer questions, whether about interesting Wines from around the World, to neat Italian Foods or advice on Anniversary trips to Tuscany. He has an excellent selection/great values and we love his Wine Club (Best one we have tried for both variety/costs) ! Recently our Daughter got married in Leesburg and for the special day we turned to Giacomo to help provide the Wine. He was incredibly helpful during the entire process, from picking the right Wines, to figuring out the right amounts, to hand delivering them to the Birkby House on the day of the event ... I really can't say enough great things about either the store or the owner.... Just a Big "Grazie Amico Mio" ! (Thank...
