I’ve been into Trinity House Cafe a few times over the years as I typically come here any time my dog needs vet work. Today will be my last time. Here are a few observations from my time at Trinity. The employees are fairly lackluster. I don’t necessarily blame them as most of them are young kids. You can do the math yourself on what kind of ownership/labor conditions tend to necessitate a constant cycling of kids too young to know how to do the job properly. Today I asked if I could borrow an iPhone charger and the employee told me they didn’t have one. I asked if she could perhaps check the back or ask her coworkers because the vet would need to contact me and she acted annoyed before taking two paces to the back just to redecorate that she didn’t have one. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not entitled to an IPhone charger, but considering the situation, I would have really appreciated at least some kindness if no charger was available. Perhaps I could look past this if not for other errors. My coffee was fairly mid, I’m not sure how experienced these folks are at pulling shots. The food itself is overpriced for its execution/minimal preparation I watched a tray go unbussed for literal hours next to where I was sitting. Personally, I’m of the belief that people should bus their own stuff anyways, but if they don’t, it’s kind of wild for 4 employees to be standing around in the back and not get it.
Again, the general atmosphere by employees is “I don’t care.”
B. There are no two ways around it, the Jesus stuff is a lot. I mean it’s literally the entire decor of this coffee shop. This coffee shop is called Trinity and so I guess you know what you’re signing up for, if that’s your thing, then by all means. That said, I don’t know that I find the environment to be particularly supportive of those of other faiths or who don’t follow any particular faith. Perhaps it’s just my opinion, but I’m of the belief that community centers and third spaces ought to create welcoming environments for all and not just select members of the community.
C. Lastly, the jazz music got to be a lot. I was here for several hours while waiting for my dogs surgery and if I didn’t have headphones I think I would have literally went into a Jesus/jazz induced coma. It’s not the worst choice for coffee shop music in the world, but it would probably be good to mix it up a little...
Read moreWe visited Trinity yesterday and had a long and lovely stay. We were welcomed in a very friendly manner, and service was cheerful and pleasant. My latte was delicious and my companion’s espresso was very good. We were so comfortable in the family-friendly environment that we ended up staying for lunch. My sandwich was just the right size and was tasty, and my companion’s soup of the day came with a warm buttered roll—a really nice touch! This is clearly a staple to the local community, and the employees and manager seemed to know almost everyone who came in. They have live music in the evenings and host a number of different community groups throughout the month (all up on the calendar on the wall). This is clearly a business with an ethic, and if that makes you uncomfortable then this is not the café for you. But if you’re looking for friendly service, good coffee and tasty food, then this is...
Read moreStopped in today for a quick to-go coffee and scone. Took way too long for a simple drip coffee but it’s alright, I wasn’t in too much of a rush. It was only after I got back into my car and spilled coffee everywhere that I realized the lid was way too big. Brought it back inside and asked for the appropriate lid - was VERY quickly and sternly told there’s only one size lid… I could tell at this point that this was a repeat occurrence. I originally got a 16 oz coffee and the ultimate solution was to pour it into a 20 oz cup which fits the “one size fits all” lid. The kids working were all young so maybe they don’t know how to diagnose and communicate a recurring issue to management yet. But my advice is for management to get these kids...
